Features and Benefits
Features
• Simple operation that requires only one ball
• Flow rate actuated
• Unlimited cycling between bypass/non-bypass
• 60 Second cycle time with ball on seat
• Tool position clearly indicated by SPP
• Tool is designed to trip dry pipe
• Indexing mechanism and spring are protected
• Variable drop ball size
Benefits
• Easy to train on and easy to use
• Alleviates dependency on multiple drop balls
• No wasted trips for an exhausted tool
• Reduced non-productive time
• No guessing about tool position
• No need to lock tool open
• Dependable performance
• Flexible compatibility with various string ID’s
Activation Rates
• MOCS Tool is flow rate activated
• Higher mud weights result in lower minimum activation flow rates
• Lower mud weights result in higher minimum activation flow rates
Launch Position (No Drop Ball on Seat)
• Passive operating position
• Open bore allows fishing operations if necessary
• Tool will not shift until the activation ball is on seat
Operating Procedures
Landing the Ball (Drop Ball on Seat – Pumps at 200 GPM)
• Flow ball down at Max 200 GPM
• A noticeable (200+ psi) pressure
drop will indicate the ball has landed
• Increase flow rate above the minimum
activation rate to shift the tool
• Flow channels in top sub pin allow drainage for
pulling dry pipe
Operating Procedures
Operating Procedures
Bypass Position
• Once minimum activation flow rate is achieved,
tool will cycle open to the annulus on the first shift
• A noticeable 200-600 psi reduction in stand pipe
pressure will indicate that the tool is in bypass
Reset Position- (Shifting) (Drop Ball on Seat – Pumps Off)
• Shut pumps off for 30-60 seconds
• The indexing mechanism will shift as the piston
returns to the reset position
• Tool will shift each time flow is stopped or reduced
below 75 GPM for 30-60 seconds
Operating Procedures
Operating Procedures
• Resume flow above the minimum activation rate
• Tool will shift to Non-Bypass (flow to bit)
• Piston lands in secondary position closing annular
ports and leaving the internal valve ports open to
flow to the bit
• A noticeable (200 – 800 psi) pressure increase over
the SPP in bypass will indicate the tool is in non-
bypass and flowing through the BHA to the bit
Non-bypass Position (Flow to Bit)
MOCS Operating Requirements:
• Pump flow rate of at least minimum activation flow rate plus 15% (Depending on mud weight)
• Bit TFA less than 1.4 in2 (Optional bottom sub nozzle available)
• No rotating or operation in doglegs greater than 10°/100’
