Multiple Property Documentation Name: Architectural, Historic, and Cultural Resources of Los Angeles Note: This outline is a work in progress. Ethnic and cultural themes are addressed throughout each of the contexts. In some cases the themes are explicit, as in the case of the themes “Civil Rights Movement: Ethnic and Gender Equality,” “Deed Restriction and Segregation,” “Social Clubs and Ethnic/Cultural Associations,” “Community Mural Movement,” and “Labor History.” In other cases they are less apparent. For example, the themes “Commercial Merchants, Builders and Leaders,” “Visual Artists in L.A.”, and “Writers and Residency in L.A.” would cover all people. As the surveys progress and development of narrative context continues, specific sub-themes may be added to this outline. For example, using a Certified Local Government Grant, a theme relating to the Chinese American history of Los Angeles is in development and a new theme of “Chinese Associations” will be added to the Sub-context “Social Clubs and Organizations.”
