Beacon strives to operate all of its properties in a resource-efficient manner and seeks LEED certification at every property it owns. To date, Beacon has obtained LEED certification for over 42 million square feet of property.

ENERGY STAR® CERTIFIEDThe Hub, along with the majority of Beacon’s properties, will be seeking ENERGY STAR certification. Beacon’s commitment to sustainability has been recognized by the EPA, who awarded Beacon with the ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award for the past six years, and ENERGYSTAR Partner of the Year award — Sustained Excellence, for the past three years.

HONEY BEES ON THE ROOFAs part of its long-standing commitment to sustainability, Beacon has partnered with The Best Bees, a Boston-based full-service beekeeper and leading researcher, to install beehives on the rooftops of most of its buildings. Beacon is planning to install hives at The Hub. Beacon is pleased to support honey bee research by being one of the first institutional owners to introduce this program on a national level.
