MUSICA Guide To Instrumental Lessons
Catmose College has always had a strong reputation for music. Students are offered a wide range of instruments to learn and opportunities to perform to a wide range of audiences. We are proud of the fact that at the end of their time at the College, students leave us having been involved in productions, concerts, European tours, recordings and trips to experience a wide range of professionally produced music. In recent years, students have had the opportunity to perform in large College productions, such as Annie, Hairspray and Alice in Wonderland. Moreover, students have had the privilege of performing not only around the United Kingdom but also in Austria and Italy.
Matt SammyDirector of Music
Individual music lessons are a key part of our provision, allowing students to develop their own talent in a particular instrument. Many students will go onto study for graded music examinations and perform in one of our ensembles.
Music lessons are taught by Visiting Music Teachers (VMT). A VMT is a person who is an expert in one instrumental area. Currently, we have over 200 students learning a musical instrument including Violin, Viola, Cello, Classical Guitar, Electric Guitar, Bass Guitar, Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone, Oboe, Recorder, Bassoon, Cornet, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Voice, Drum Kit, Piano and Keyboard.
INSTRUMENTAL LESSONS
We have a wide range of musical ensembles which rehearse each week. Performance in an ensemble group is a key part of learning a musical instrument and we encourage all students who are learning a musical instrument to join at least one ensemble. The ensemble group lessons are free for students to attend as the College pays the cost for the tuition.
The list of ensembles we currently offer are listed below.
