What about the rumbling of trucks driving by on the road? Do you find anything that’s very quiet like the whirr of a computer fan? Also, when you fill out the scavenger hunt, is there anything really cool about the sound? Be sure to include it below! Frequency and Amplitude Scavenger Hunt You probably remember that sound always starts with a Vibraon. Whenever we study sound vibraons we talk about their Frequency and Amplitude because it helps us understand the sound! Frequency refers to how quickly the vibraons are moving the air parcles back and forth and Amplitude tells us how large the vibraons are moving through the air. So, some sounds can have High Frequencies and move parcles in the air quickly, but also be very Quiet and have Low Amplitude. Think about the sound of a flute, it can play very high frequencies but somemes also play very quietly! What is Making the Sound? Frequency (Is it High or Low?) Amplitude (Is it Loud or Soſt?) What is cool about the sound?

Frequency and Amplitude Scavenger HuntYou probably remember that sound always starts with a Vibration. Whenever we study sound vibrations we talk about their Frequency and Amplitude because it helps us understand the sound! Frequency refers to how quickly the vibrations are moving the air particles back and forth and Amplitude tells us how large the vibrations are moving through the air. So, some sounds can have High Frequencies and move particles in the air quickly, but also be very Quiet and have Low Amplitude. Think about the sound of a flute, it can play very high frequencies but sometimes also play very quietly!

What is Making the Sound?

Frequency(Is it High or Low?)

Amplitude (Is it Loud or Soft?)
