Dublin Guitar QuartetO C T O B E R 2 5 , 2 0 1 4
Brian Bolger Pat Brunnock Michael O’Toole Thomas O’Durcain
Dubbed a “quartet with a difference” by the Irish Times, the trailblazing Dublin Guitar Quartet is devoted exclusively to contemporary music. Since its 2002 formation at the Dublin Conservatory of Music and Drama, the ensemble has commissioned new work, adapted contemporary pieces not originally written for guitar, and broadened both its range and tuning capabilities through the use of eight- and eleven-string guitars, as well as specialized amplification. With full-bodied power and grace, the group is firmly charting its place on the map of Irish voices on the global artistic stage. Hear works by Arvo Pärt, Philip Glass, Steve Reich, György Ligeti, and others as you’ve never heard them before.
Enso- String QuartetM A R C H 2 1 , 2 0 1 5
Maureen Nelson, violin John Marcus, violin Melissa Reardon, viola Richard Belcher, cello
With a 2010 Grammy Award nomination for “Best Chamber Music Performance,” the New York City-based Enso- String Quartet has quickly become one of the country’s most exciting young ensembles. Shortly after the group’s inception at Yale University in 1999, Enso- had success at the Banff International String Quartet Competition and won the Concert Artists Guild International Competition. The quartet’s live concerts have been highlighted for having an “edge-of-the-seat vitality few groups maintain throughout a performance” (Houston Chronicle). They will perform chamber music classics by Wolf, Shostakovich, and Sibelius.

First Prize Winner, 2013 Young Concert Artists International Auditions
A native of Shenyang, China, 24-year-old pianist Yun-Chin Zhou has been hailed as a “dashing virtuoso…complete with dazzling fingerwork and shapely phrasing” (Cleveland Plain Dealer). In 2013, he was awarded seven concert prizes and was named a winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions. He came to the U.S. at the age of 19 to study at the Curtis Institute and is now pursuing his Master’s degree at the Juilliard School, where he recently won the Gina Bacchauer Piano Competition. The program will include works by Haydn, Liszt, Ravel, Trenet, and Rachmaninoff.
