Page 1: Music Magazine Analysis

Music Magazine AnalysisI decided to analyse Kerrang as that was the most-read magazine chosen by the people I interviewed.

The eye-flow shape resembles a Z and is uninterrupted (adding to the aesthetic appeal), however it seems a little too crowded so I will make my cover a little less image-heavy.

The technique of using the same font (apart from the masthead) but changing them slightly by giving them borders or erasing lines in the text is good so I might do that.

Music Magazine AnalysisCover image:It is of a popular band to attract reader’s attention. The band members are placed at various distances from the camera affecting the coverlines and other images’ placements. It may be that each person was photographed separately then photo-shopped in together.

The models’ ranged expressions are amusing and convey their personalities, making the cover more interesting. Also, eye-contact in all the cover images draws the reader in.

Stands out and makes the reader feel like the magazine is jam-packed with information.

Music Magazine Analysis

Masthead is in front of the cover models at times, but mostly behind.

Names of bands interest the reader.

The colours of the magazine cover are mostly white and grey, with bright red to make things stand out.

Model credit, almost the same font size as the masthead.

“Inside” info seems like it’s really important

Exclamation marks make it seem like all the information is shouted, attracting the reader.

More images attract the readers, they have coloured borders to stand out against the main cover image.
