Kerrang Magazine - Issue 1272 The photograph used in on this magazine front

cover is lively and looks aggressive. This shows that the bands that are mentioned in the magazine may have aggressive/rock music.

All the pull quotes and cover lines are in sans serif font which enhances the text – makes it bold and stand out against the photograph and the background.

The layout of the magazine is layered and busy. The photograph is layered over the masthead – but people still know the title of the magazine. This may shows that ‘Kerrang’ magazine is a popular magazine. I think this is effective as it makes the photography more eye-catching.

This magazine uses a skyline to add more information and cover lines to make the reader want to read.

Kerrang Magazine – Issue 1225 This issue of ‘Kerrang’ magazine looks like it is

split in half horizontally. The top half concentrates on the ‘Bullet For My Valentine’ cover line. But the bottom half is full of lots of pictures, pull quotes and cover lines. This makes the magazine front cover look more visually interesting.

The photograph used for the main cover line has been made in to different layers. The main singer of ‘Bullet For My Valentine’ is layered over the top of the masthead and this makes him stand out compare to the other band members.

All the text on the front page has a sans serif font. This makes the magazine look young, new, bold and eye catching.

The colours that are used on the front cover are bold and do not blend in. This makes it even more clear and could be read from a distance in a shop.

This magazine does not use the left third for putting many cover lines and pull quotes on.

Kerrang Magazine – Issue 1242 This ‘Kerrang’ magazine is very busy and full of

photographs. All the photos that are used are all posed, none of the bands are singing or on stage. This suggests that they posing for a reason – this reason is to do with the ‘Albums You Need To Hear In 2009’cover line.

This magazine front cover looks organised. This is because all of the photographs are all in line and are not just randomly spread across the page.

All the text on the front page is in a sans serif font, which looks bold and noticeable against the background.

On this issue, the masthead is not covered up at all by any photographs. This makes it more noticeable and clear.
