• Harris Publications was founded in 1985 by Stanley R.

Harris, who had been in the magazine publishing business

since the late 1950s.

• harris Publications started with music, then went onto

producing comics which Stanley specialised in from

previous work and now has a range of areas( sports,

lifestyle, mens mags etc.).

• One of Harris Publications first successful and long-

running titles was Guitar World, which it published

beginning in 1980, before selling the property to Future US

in 2003.

• XXL is an American hip hop magazine, published by Harris

Publications and founded in 1997. In August 1997, XXL

released its first issue. It featured rappers Jay-Z and

Master P on a double cover.

• Other titles with limited runs have been launched under the

XXL brand, including Hip-Hop Soul, Eye Candy and

Shade45.

• XXL has released many other special projects including

tour programs, mix tapes and exclusive DVDs. XXL also

maintains a popular website, which provides daily hip hop

news, original content and content from the magazine.

• XXL main target audience is for anyone who has a love

of Hip Hop. XXL is a magazine that is aimed at

African-American people between the ages of 18-40

year olds.

with just one magazine.Today Future specialises in

high-quality multi-media products, creating over 200

specialist publications, apps, websites and events.

• From an idea for one computer magazine to an

international multi-platform media group, Future has

been built on a creative, innovative and competitive

culture.

• Future to Pearson PLC for £52.7m in 1994, but bought

it back in 1998, with Future chief executive Greg

Ingham and Apax Venture Partners, for £142m.In 2001

Anderson left Future.

• In 2006, it was the ranked the sixth-largest media

corporation in the United Kingdom. It publishes more

than 180 magazines in fields such as video games,

technology, automotive, cycling, films and

photography.

• In March 2014, it was announced that the company's

CFO Zillah Byng-Maddick would become the

company's fourth CEO in nine years on 1 April 2014

after Mark Wood, CEO since 2011, stepped down.
