Here I was cropping down the picture of the record ready to use on my double page article. I had originally used it as the ‘O’ in ‘On’ for my title on my front page. However I decided to use it again on my article as I thought if I used it on at least two pages of my magazine it would run through and make it look more professional. I decided not to change the colour of the record as I thought it best to keep it original.

The Font for the masthead is from a website called www.urbanfonts.com. I found this website through searching on Google. I wanted to use this font as I thought it would match with the rock genre with the black lines going through it. The three colours I used for my magazine are green, pink and black as they are neither stereotypical girls or boys colours and they also match the rock genre. I used green for the masthead to make it stand out from the page and attract the reader. I also used green because my top strip is pink and black and using green would make it appeal to the audience even more.

The font style for my top strip is also from www.urbanfonts.com. I decided to use a different style of font for my top strip then my masthead as I thought it would contrast each other. I didn’t want my top strip to be too big as if I had made it bigger it would have taken the effect away from the title and I did not want this to happen as the masthead is one of the main things on the page.

To get the effect of the record I took a picture of a record from Google. From here I removed the yellow centre from the record and replaced it with a pink star. To get this star I went on to Google and got a picture of a yellow star. I then opened this star up on paint and filled the star pink instead of leaving it yellow. I decided to place it in the top right hand corner and crop of over half of the record as I in my opinion this made it look more effective and would tie in with the record used on my front cover.

This is the stage where I was editing the beginning part of the name of my band. I chose to use green for this again as I had used pink for the title of my contents page. I used the same style of font, from the same website throughout to make the magazine continuous and look professional. To edit the background to be left with just the title of my band I used the cropping tool to get as close to the edges as I possibly could. From there I used the magnetic lasso tool to take big chunks of the green colouring away from the letters. After doing this I find I was still left with little parts of green that was not wanted. To remove these I used the rubber shaped as a pencil to the best of my ability.

This is the end result of editing one of my pictures. Here I was about to place the picture into Adobe InDesign CS3 after I had cropped, used the magnetic lasso tool and used the rubber to get my picture how I wanted it look which is as seen on the slide above. I thought this picture was best used on my article as I could then write my text around it and layer it on top of each other to make it look more professional.

I decided to use this people for the picture as they are part of the band that the interview on my article is about. I felt that how I got the people to stand for the picture was very important as I wanted them to match the rock genre but also to make themselves look like they are in a band, ready to work together to perform and to be interviewed.
