Date: 10/17/12 Prepared by: Pam Context When we first talked about the pumpkins and gourds at the science table, Marie told us that one of the gourds can be dried out and used as a maraca. Objectives To participate in a musical experience. To explore ways to make sounds using our bodies and a musical instrument. Materials/Resources available Maracas Experience We explored the ways to make sounds with the maracas, such as loud and soft and shaking them in a circle. Marie showed Be: I can move it (the maraca) without making any sound. Wh: We could use smashed up pieces of jewelry (inside the broken maraca). Li: A maraca is a ball with a stick in it that makes a sound when you shake it.
