Background to Our Shot Types

Our video uses a Variety of selected shots joined together to create a

montage like sequence. Therefore we have selected a few of the different

shots to talk about as some sections are repeated.

Shot 1

The first shot you see is an establishing shot of the train station and the metro-link entering it. The camera then pans to the left following the metro-link where our character is then introduced.Our character is holding a radio to represent the idea that she is a street dancing busker

Shot 2

The camera then merges to a tracking long shot of our character walking through the train station. This is effective as it indicates the theme that runs through the course of the video which is “a life in the city”.

Shot 3

Next, the camera Jump Cuts to our character stood on a congested bridge in Long Shot . This idea was used to create the perception of a happy individual ( the busker ) who is laid back and making the most out of what she’s got, amongst thousands of people who are extremely stressed/busy making there way to work and not even acknowledging her as they are to engrossed with their own personal lives.

Shot 4

The camera again Jump Cuts to our character in Long Shot dancing in a skate park. This was to continue the running theme of “a life in the city” as a skate park carries an urban stereotype. We recorded the skaters in the background in order to create a more realistic scenario. We experimented with the Mac software by trying different editing techniques and merged this with a clip from the green screen to express our creativeness.
