How will these techniques appeal to the target audience needs? Target Audience & Needs I think the best suited target audience would be young adults those who enjoy the rock genre, also people who enjoy horror films and are not very squeamish about certain images. I think the target audience’s needs for this video would be to contain dark colours, scenes that don’t terrify them but interest them and images that tell them a story. The video was narrative and performance because it was staged to tell a story to the audience. Lyrics (Meaning Implied?) The singer repeats the words ‘I’ll eat your soul’ and also the words ‘come to daddy’ suggesting that the children are mini versions of him and he’s controlling them; making them terrorise the neighbourhood. Tempo The tempo is very fast and the beat repeats it’s self throughout. The volume and tone of the lyrics and tempo could also be suggested as aggressive. Genre The genre could be suggested as rock, however, it could also be argued to be drum and bass. As these are the only instruments including vocals that we hear throughout the piece.

Comment on the following aspects in relation to your music video choice. How will these techniques appeal to the target audience needs?

Target Audience & Needs

I think the best suited target audience would be young adults those who enjoy the rock genre, also people who enjoy horror films and are not very squeamish about certain images. I think the target audience’s needs for this video would be to contain dark colours, scenes that don’t terrify them but interest them and images that tell them a story. The video was narrative and performance because it was staged to tell a story to the audience.

Lyrics (Meaning Implied?)

The singer repeats the words ‘I’ll eat your soul’ and also the words ‘come to daddy’ suggesting that the children are mini versions of him and he’s controlling them; making them terrorise the neighbourhood.

Camera Technique We first come across a panning shot showing the block of flats, and then we see a zooming out shot of the Television screen on a pile of rubbish. Later on we see a mid-shot of the woman who was walking the dog looking scared, we know her facial expression because we later see them from a close up telling us this. Also, we see an establishing shot of the man surrounded by the children. Other shots we seen was a tracking shot following the children as they’re running and scaring people. A low angle is shown of the woman looking down at the television. Other close ups we see are of the man’s body parts when we see him escaping form the Television.

Editing Some editing techniques I found were cutting from one scene to another. The scenes were cut and an affect was added to make it look like it was flashing from one scene to another; this is called jump cuts.

Use of Digital Effects The colours of the shots are dark, the lighting has been made to look dim and look like it was filmed on a dull rainy day. To look like the images are flitching to give the effect that the signal is being affected. The colour grey signifies cold, washed out and unwelcoming.
