MUSIC VIDEO HISTORY
Fischinger was a German - American,
Animator, Filmmaker and Painter. He made
musical animated films which could be
considered some of the first music videos.
OSKAR FISCHINGER
1900-1967
Soundies were 3 minute musical films mostly made in Chicago, New York and
Hollywood. Soundies were made between 1940-1947 and were played on
jukeboxes (Music machines) .They included all classic genres.
This was the start to the revolution of the
nowadays music videos.
SOUNDIES
Scopitones is a type of jukebox that was used to
watch music films.
They were based of Soundies and were created at
the time of World War One.
It was the first coin operated music machine.
They were installed in night clubs, restaurants
bars and amusement parks.
These helped people know about the latest music
and what was going on at the time.
SCOPITONES
It was created in 1964
A black & white comedy film
It was a short film that contained all their music tracks.
The movie/film showed a few days in the lives of the boy band.
The film they created had a financial
and critical success
It lead to many influences such as spy
movies and other sci-fi and action packed
comedies.
A HARD DAYS NIGHT
The Queen’s made the first promotional video which lead to a huge
success and created a lot of influence and other promotional videos
It kick-started the musical industry and
revolutionised the way Music was advertised
The video was aired on ‘Top Of The Pops’
and caught a lot of attention
It had a short budgeting.
This lead to many other hit music videos
and lead to nowadays advertising.
QUEEN BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY
MTV was launched in 1981
The first video launched was ‘Video killed the Radio Star’ which was a
success
With MTV’s success music videos became a new role in to music marketing
The purpose of the channel was to play music videos were showed by
television characters known as "video jockeys’
It was mainly targeted at young adults and teenagers

YouTube was the first online video-sharing website
The first YouTube video was titled Me at the zoo
YouTube gained huge success straight away.
It was then purchased by google
People had uploaded more than 65,000 new videos and delivering 100
million video views per day
It was easy for advertising and created profits for every few views
