In the lesson today we will be focusing on the connection drawn by Goodwin, between the lyrics of the song and what we see on screen.

By the end of the lesson you will understand the links he suggests between lyrics and visuals

What do you mean?

There may be three types of links between lyrics and visuals.

Lyrics and visuals Goodwin suggests that there is a relationship between

visuals and the lyrics

The relationships may be:

1. Illustrative Images are used to represent the lyrics and genre, perhaps like a metaphor

For example the film we saw before would be an example of illustrative.

2. Amplifying (literally interpreting the words and exaggerating them. Often images are repeated and drummed into the audiences heads )
