BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Chosen Track: MGMT Electric Feel.

Genre: Synth Pop

Who is our band: A.W.E (Are We Eternal) is a duo consisting of:

1 lead singer/keyboard player (who is shown in the video) And 1 guitar player.The rest of the instruments are pre recorded (I.e. drums and bass)

BRAND IMAGE

A.W.E is the name of our band. It is a synth pop band and so most of the instruments are recorded virtually. This means that the band members don’t play all the instruments heard in the tracks.

A.W.E stands for ‘Are we eternal’. This name is supposed to make you think about certain aspects of life. The name is bold and eye-catching as an acronym, but audiences will find the another meaning, they will think about or band.

The band consist of 1 male and 1 female, both of which will feature in the video.

Our brand image consists mainly of bright colours and imagery. Our brand focusses mainly on the good times in life and the joy of life in general. We aim to appel to those who enjoy living life to the fullest.

VIDEO IDEAS

Camera follows singer walking on a street pavement, while he seems thoughtful and serious. He lip syncs until the line “Saw her in the amazon” where it cuts to him being with this girls who gives him the “electric feel” stated in the song.

In the verses it shows him thinking and reflecting about his emotions and he wonders if she is actually real.

In the chorus it shows him with her feeling idyllic/full of bliss (the ‘electric feel’).

Theory:

In terms of Andrew Goodwin’s theory, the video will evidence a sense of the relationships between lyrics & music with the visuals. I.e. the ‘electric feel’ is the feel good experience the performer experiences with this person. This could be exaggerated at the end when by the end of the song, the performer is alone and reflects on what has happened or might not have happened.

LIGHTING, COSTUME & MOOD/ATMOSPHERE

Lighting:

• natural lighting (sunlight) - high key.

• Mood candles in the forest scenes

Costume:

• Male role – coloured striped jumper (possibly a shirt underneath), skinny dark coloured jeans, vans skate shoes.

• Female role – coloured pattern dress, dark leggings, Converse style shoes.

(actors will have warm clothing as of cold temperature)

Mood/Atmosphere:

The music video portray a happy/idyllic atmosphere whilst also showing the actors to have a reflective mood.

ISSUES AND PROBLEMS

We may face some problems whilst filming our music video. Some of these may be:

• Weather – if the filming day turns out to be wet and miserable, we may not be able to create the correct mood and atmosphere.

• Daylight timing – we need to be able to film the majority of our shots within one day. This means that we will have to be prepared and ready to go in the early morning.

• Sunset/sunrise – we would like to use a shot of the sun setting or rising in our video. This means that we will need to get our timings right so that we can film it all in one day.

HOW WILL OUR DIGIPAK / AD LINK TO THE VIDEO?Our Digipak and magazine advert will link to our video as it will

feature the lead singer and main actress on the covers.

The Digipak and advert will also contain bright and colourful imagery which links back to the similar imagery and colours used in the video. Colours such as blue, green and red will be used in all of the texts and the video we create.

We will make sure that similar images are used in all texts. For instance, we will take photos for our Digipak on location when filming. This will make sure that we maintain continuity throughout.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Primary Audience (taken from channel 4 tribes)

Leading edge

“Influencers living for the new and now – always changing and switched on to the next thing...” (uktribes.com)

I.e. Individuals who search for original ideas, looks, trends etc. This then is exposed later on through media. They would be the ones who find the full album of our artist and artists/bands alike.

Secondary Audience

Mainstream

“For Mainstream Tribes it’s about life’s simple pleasure - fun, friends and keeping it local…” (uktribes.com)

I.e. The music of our artist would reach mainstream tribes through singles that can catch up on the top charts, that is why they would be a secondary audience. They wouldn’t be looking for it, the artist would feature on the top 40.
