What A Wonderful World!What A Wonderful
World!
Louis Armstrong, What a Wonderful World
Musical
Meditations
I see trees of
green,
Red Roses
too,
I see them
bloom for
me and you,
And I say to myself, what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue and clouds of white,
Bright sunny days, and dark sacred
nights,
And I think to myself, what a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow are so pretty in the skies
Are also on the faces of the people walking by
I see friends shaking hands saying
How do you do?
They're really saying, “I love you.”
I see babies cry; I
watch them grow,
They'll learn much
more than I'll ever
know,
Performed by Louis
Armstrong in 1967
And I think to myself,
what a wonderful world,
Yes, I think to myself,
what a wonderful world.
Performed by Louis Armstrong in 1967
There is probably not a person in the
world that is not familiar with Louis
Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World”.
The song is one of the most uplifting and
life affirming songs of all times. Louis
Armstrong’s interpretation should get all
the credit.
It’s interesting to know that the song was
first released in Britain where it topped
the charts before being released in the
United States.
Everyone who listens to this song can relate to
a different part of it. Think about the color of
the rainbow, shaking hands with someone, or
hearing baby’s cry. They are all joyful sights
and sounds, putting wonderful visions in your
mind.
The song conjures up emotion
and a picture of what a
wonderful world we really live
in and how much appreciation
we should show to God for
giving it to us. The beauty of
creation is ever present as we see
the sun and the moon, the
changes of the season, and the
flowers that grow,
Psalm 92 says, “For you make me glad by
your deeds, LORD; I sing for joy at what
your hands have done. How great are your
works, LORD, how profound your
thoughts!” Psalm 92:4-5
The Book of Numbers reminds us that
the Lord intends us to be good stewards
of his creation.
“Do not pollute the land where you are.
Bloodshed pollutes the land, and
atonement cannot be made for the land on
which blood has been shed, except by the
blood of the one who shed it.
Do not defile the land where you live and
where I dwell, for I, the LORD, dwell
among the Israelites.” Numbers 35:33-34
Experiencing creation is experiencing
God. God is all knowing and all loving.
God provides for our every need both in
this life and the next.
As you look at the sunrise or the sunset, always remember it is but
for the grace of God that we can live this life surrounded by the
beauty of creation. “What a wonderful world”. Pastor Bill Daywalt
