1. This comparative analysis utilizes data from Embraer's FAA Aircraft Flight manual (AFM-2656), dated 12/12/2008 and Pilot's Operating Handbook (POH-2761). At this time, information on the Phenom's "Enhanced" takeoff performance" is not available. All takeoff analysis in this report is based on "standard" takeoff performance.

Takeaways

The Cessna Citation Mustang offers greater value than the Embraer Phenom 100:

Performance: The Citation Mustang is more versatile Able to use hundreds of additional airports due to its shorter runway requirements Superior high altitude / hot temperature takeoff performance provides greater mission flexibility Climbs to more fuel-efficient altitudes faster and transitions through weather more quickly Slower critical airspeeds enhance safety during takeoff and

landing

Economics: The Citation Mustang costs less Lower acquisition cost More economical to operate Consumes less fuel on every mission

Customer Support: Cessna is an industry leader in Product Support

Consistently high-rated organization by Professional Pilot's Product Support survey Extensive network of company-owned facilities that only service Citation aircraft MSG-3 based maintenance program plus state-of-the-art diagnostic systems reduce downtime and

maintenance expense Comprehensive warranty program administered entirely by Cessna – no need to deal with a separate

vendor for engine issues, and its transferable

When departing from airports with short

runways, the Citation Mustang will be able to

complete more of its mission's non-stop. The Phenom 100 will require

significantly more fuel stops to complete its

missions.

Climb Performance

The Citation Mustang will climb to altitude faster than the Phenom 100 as well as climbing direct to its certified ceiling of 41,000 feet.

The Citation Mustang can reduce fuel expense and

provide a more comfortable flight because it can reach

fuel-efficient cruise altitudes faster and transition through

weather quicker.

Cruise Performance

The Phenom 100 does exhibit faster cruise speeds than the Citation Mustang. Those speeds, however, translate into a minimal total flight time difference when you examine typical missions.

The Phenom 100 will complete its missions

only a few minutes before that of the Citation Mustang.

If the Citation Mustang can utilize an airport closer to your final destination due to its superior takeoff advantage, the reduction in drive time could more than offset any flight time savings by

the Phenom 100.

According to a third party, the Citation Mustang is less

expensive to operate than the

Phenom 100.

1. Source: Conklin & deDecker's The Aircraft Cost Evaluator (2008 Vol 1), electronic version. Fuel price and hourly shop rate are not Conklin supplied data. Total costs excludes non-aircraft related items such as crew expenses, supplies/catering, and miscellaneous items. Cessna does not warranty this information but merely provides this data for the customer's convenience.

2. Based on a 600 nautical mile trip using performance data derived from flight manuals – includes ground fuel. Conklin adds 15% to the calculated fuel burn to "… account for less than ideal operating conditions."

3. Maintenance costs reflect scheduled, unscheduled, and on-condition maintenance for airframe, avionics, and minor engine maintenance. "New aircraft maintenance costs show the benefit of warranty coverage. An aging factor is applied based on the age of the aircraft. Labor/parts cost estimates reflect a 10-year time period to balance warranty with mature aircraft costs."

4. Based on "…a 10 year average of the Jet Support Services, Incorporated Complete program. JSSI Complete covers scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, all required inspections and overhauls, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and loaner engines."

5. "The parts and costs required to overhaul the thrust reversers with a set overhaul interval. Routine costs for on-condition thrust reversers are included in the maintenance-parts and labor."

6. Costs associated with overhauling the component at its stated overhaul interval. Excludes routine and minor maintenance.

Systems Architecture

The Citation Mustang incorporates proven, reliable systems that have become the hallmark of the Citation fleet. Flight Controls • All primary flight controls are operated through cables and

mechanical linkage – reduces complexity and increases dispatch reliability.

• Electric trim systems for all three axis. Also, a manual pitch trim wheel.

• Speed brake panels on both the upper and lower wing. • Large fowler-type flaps. Hydraulics • Open-center, 1,500 psi system powered by an electric motor. • System operates on demand which reduces wear on the pump

and system components, thus a lower chance of leaks. • Powers the landing gear and wheel brakes. Two independent pneumatic systems provide backup. Electrical • 28 volt, parallel bus architecture system driven by two 300 ampere starter / generators. • Each generator connected to a generator control unit (GCU) to allow load sharing and shedding. • 28 ampere-hour battery located in the tailcone features easy disconnects for removal between flights.

Page 20: Mustang Phenom Comparison

Systems Architecture

Fuel • All fuel is contained within the wings – each wing supplies its respective engine. System is fully automatic. • Fuel is heated through an oil heat exchanger – no anti-ice additive required.

Environmental • Digital controller regulates cabin pressure – maximum 8.30 psi. • Standard vapor cycle system for additional cabin cooling – can be operated on the ground. • Separate cockpit and cabin temperature control zones.

Landing Gear / Brakes • Trailing-link main landing gear – offers superior shock absorption on landing. • Anti-skid brakes are powered by the hydraulic system with an emergency

pneumatic back-up system.

Ice Protection • Wing leading edges and

horizontal stabilizer is protected by pneumatic boots.

• Windshield is electrically anti-iced and defogged and coated for rain removal.

The Citation Mustang's straightforward systems contribute

to higher dispatch reliability and reduced downtime.

Simplicity = less can go wrong.

Powerplants

The Citation Mustang utilizes Pratt & Whitney's PW615F engine.

• High-efficiency turbofans featuring counter-rotating, twin-spool design with three compression stages and two turbine stages.

• Engines provide 1,460 pounds of thrust each at sea level up to ISA + 10C.

• Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system – greatly reduces pilot workload and enhances engine protection and diagnostics capabilities. Detents in the throttle for takeoff, climb, cruise and idle ensure optimal power settings.

• Time between overhaul (TBO) is 3,500 hours.

The Citation Mustang's engines are fuel-efficient

and easy to operate.

Avionics

The Citation Mustang utilizes the Garmin G1000 fully-integrated avionics suite.

• Two large 10.4" PFDs plus a 15" MFD active matrix liquid crystal, high resolution displays. • Dual Interface Adapter Units behind the PFDs (within the

pressure vessel) are the heart of the system incorporating all communication, navigation, flight control and data management functions.

• MFD is capable of displaying traffic, terrain, radar, graphical weather, airspace, airports, navaids, roads, Garmin's FlightCharts and Safe Taxi (U.S.), all standard.

• Garmin FMS with dual WAAS enabled GPS navigation. • Standard Engine Indicating and Crew Alerting System

information displayed on the left side of the MFD. • Additional standard features: Weather Avoidance

Radar, Traffic Information System, Terrain Avoidance Warning System, dual Air Data Computers, and dual Attitude Heading Reference System.

• Options: Chart View (Jeppesen charts), Honeywell

Traffic Advisory System, and Sirius XM radio.

The Citation Mustang's Garmin G1000 avionics offer

tremendous functionality while keeping pilot workload low.
