Capt. Muthu krishnan Iyyappan (Muthu) is the Executive Vice President for Eka Academy.

Eka Academy specializes in leadership research and end-to-end competency based skill development

interventions delivered across entire organizational hierarchy and functional areas. He created Eka

whose mission is to be a recognized leader and a driving force aiding an Immediate and sustained

performance improvement by providing a continuum of dynamic and innovative programs for

people and businesses enabling them to realise their potential and achieve leadership – especially in

middle management.

Muthu has over 18 years of experience in Learning, Organisational and Talent development,

Entrepreneurship, Operations and Service Delivery, Transition and Business Process Consultation,

Sales, Supply Chain Management, After Sales Service, Start-up Organizational Modelling and

Execution, Process re-engineering, Business transformations, Change Management, Transitions,

Business Process Outsourcing and the Military.

Muthu was earlier the group general manager for Centum Learning, an associate company for the

Bharti Enterprises. There he headed the Strategic Business Division for West and South and latter he

was given the responsibility for business development in the ASEAN region.

He was instrumental in some very large client acquisition for Centum Learning, including Godrej

Consumer Products, Hindustan Lever Limited, Mahindra and Mahindra, Allahabad Bank, Central

Bank of India, Tata Capital, Tata Chemicals etc., Outside India, Muthu had also initiated the

acquisition of strategic clients like Singtel (Singapore), Globe Telecom (Philippines) etc.,

Muthu started his career in 1995 with Nestle (1995-96), then went on to ITC Ltd (1996-1999), Indian

Army (1999 – 2004), BPL Mobile / Hutch (now acquired by Vodafone, 2004 – 2006), Reliance

Communication / Kinpo Group (Based in Indian and then China, 2006 – 2008), Conjoin Solutions

(Based in India and USA, 2008-2009) and finally at Centum (2009 – 2011) before he became an

entrepreneur to start Eka Academy.

Some of the professional assignment of Muthu includes:

– Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Operations Research & Quantitative Techniques for Indian Army at

the Defence Services Staff College.

– Service delivery re-engineering for BPL Mobile in India and Mobitel in Sri Lanka.

– Process modelling, mapping and execution for Kinpo group, a leading electronics & Software

corporate in Taiwan.

– Developed original concepts in customer loyalty program for Shoppers Stop, India’s first

departmental store chain called “First Citizen”.

– Developed original concepts for merchandising / retail space management for ITC, the largest

cigarette manufacturer in India.

– Process re-engineering for After Sales service operations for Reliance Communications.

– Business process transformation at Avotus Corp.

Muthu has experience and expertise in complete end-to-end learning delivery – from business

development to conducting need diagnostics study, solution architecture, content design &

development, execution planning and large scale delivery across geographies.

At Centum Learning, Muthu was the architect behind several successful project, the notable

amongst them are the “Operation Bushfire” executed for Hindustan Lever Limited and “Godrej Sales

Academy”.

Muthu is a passionate entrepreneur – having started his entrepreneurship ventures right from his

college days. He is currently mentoring one startup in Telecom Space under the mentorship program

of TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs). He is also guiding the Apollo Tyres Group in their skill development

venture.

Muthu is a regular speaker in various forums, both nationally and internationally. He has also been

invited to give guest lectures in IIM(Bangalore), Symbiosis (Pune), Stamford University (Thailand),

Purde University (US) – just to name a few. He is also very active in Social and Professional

Networking sites apart from being an avid Blogger.

Muthu takes keen interest in mountaineering and is an avid traveller. An alumnus of the “High

Altitude Warfare School”, Muthu has commanded the highest active military post in the world, at

Siachen Glacier, a very remote corner at an altitude of 22,500 feet. A graduate in Physics, Muthu had

completed is masters in business administration from Bharathidasan University.

Muthu stays in Mumbai with his wife, Suganya Lakshmi and two sons, Avishkar & Abhinav.
