1.0 BACKGROUND
The Mwalimu Welfare Associa�on (MWA) was registered on 24th May, 1989 under the Socie�es Act of 1968; to create a forum where all staff could socialize and interact freely as members of the TSC family.
1.2 GOVERNANCE
The Commission is legally mandated Trustee of MWA.
1.3 RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
In order to ensure MWA remains relevant to its mandate, it has developed its ever first strategic plan to guide its opera�ons and offer the much required services to its members as it facilitates improvement of service delivery at the Commission. The plan s�pulates short, medium and long term programs in the next five (5) years. The Strategic Plan can be accessed at the TSC Website.
1.1 MWA COMMITMENTS
Since incep�on Mwalimu Welfare Associa�on has strived to live up to it’s mission and vision, core values and objec�ves as stated below:‐
Vision – To be the leading welfare associa�on in Kenya Mission – To enhance cohesion and support of a
Conducive working environment among TSC staff.
Objec�ves ‐The broad objec�ves of the Associa�on as amplified from its mandate are as follows:
i.To promote cohesiveness among the members, facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences and s�mulate their interest in the affairs of the Teachers Service Commission
ii.To provide a suitable avenue for the members to share their concerns and aspira�ons with the management.
iii.To support the management in its effort to enhance corporate image by promo�ng effec�ve delivery of quality services.
iv.To educate members on their rights and privileges and to safeguard their welfare.
v.To par�cipate in social responsibility ac�vi�es.
vi.To promote physical, mental and spiritual fitness of members by providing financial support and guidance to clubs and associa�ons.
vii.To provide moral and spiritual support to members in distressful circumstances.
2.0 ORGANIZATION OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN
The strategic plan has proposed four strategic objec�ves anchored on three key pillars.The thrust of the MWA strategies is based on three key results areas; these are:
i. Members physical, spiritual andsocial, spiritual growth
ii. Member educa�on
iii. Strengthening Trustee and Member rela�onships.
2.1 RECOMMENDATION TO INCREASE MWA MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION.
To enable MWA leadership promote the well‐being of members in terms of strengthening their physical, spiritual and social needs at the workplace through clubs and ac�vi�es while at the same �me ensuring ull educa�on of members rights and obliga�ons, the plan proposes increment of monthly subscrip�on from the current KShs. 60/= to KShs150/=.
The revenue mobiliza�on framework an�cipated to achieve the set goals and enable full implementa�on of the strategic plan besides the investment por�olios.
The increase of monthly subscrip�on will enable the associa�on to expand its financial base and therefore:‐
Educate members on their rights and privileges and safeguard their welfare.
Increase in club funding
Support innova�ve and new emerging talents.
Support the social days.
Partner with the management on organiza�on of Open and Educa�on days.
Promote cohesiveness among the members, facilitate the execu�ve of ideas and experiences and s�mulate their interest in the affairs of the Teachers Service Commission
