MWC G10 100m Water resistant Version with Screw Down CrownProduct Code: G10/SS/100M This new version of our G10 watch has increased water resistance to a depth of 100m/330ft as well as a larger case diameter along with reduced case thickness. Although this G10/98 Specification watch traces its origins right back to our earliest G10 designs it represents the most radical upgrade and specification enhancement since we updated our standard 50m G10 models in 2004. In addition to the increased water resistance rating the watch also has a larger case diameter, reduced overall thickness and a sand blasted case finish. Sandblasting is a process used on a large number of current military watches from other manufac-turers and has not been widely employed on our G10 models since the 1990s. When we secured a contract to produce this model it was specified alongside the requirement for screw caseback, 100m water resistance and screw down crown that the case should be 100% covert and non reflective and it was decided that sand blasting was the best process to meet that requirement as well as providing a very robust and durable finish. The end result is that our 100m water resistant G10 watches are totally unique, because MWC is the only contractor producing standard European Infantry specification watches which meet a water resistance rating of 100m (330ft) as opposed to the standard 50m rating of other manufacturers. This new model also incorporates a high performance Ronda 715li movement which has a battery life of up to 10 years. The G10 100m variant is very rugged and is designed to survive the most extreme of conditions. The back of the case bears various contract markings in addition to the unique serial number. WC G10BH 50m Water Resistant Military Watch Product Code: G10/PB This MWC model retains the battery hatch which has been discarded by most other manufacturers and is a very useful feature which saves considerable expense when a replacement battery is required. This model has impact resistant glass, using actual glass means that the watch is very resistant to minor scratches and also gives the watch a much cleaner and more streamlined appearance. With the exception of ourselves most other manufacturers such as CWC still continue to use plastic/acrylic glasses for their G10 watches. The watch also uses Super-Luminova for improved night time visibility. Super-Luminova operates like a light battery. After sufficient activation by sunlight or artificial light, they glow in the dark until the luminosity gradually diminishes although larger markings are often visible for the whole night. This activation and subsequent light emission process can be repeated again and again, and the material does not suffer any ageing. The other advantage is that Super-LumiNova pigments are absolutely free of radioactivity. Our G10 is one of our most tried and tested G10 models and in its earlier variants has been in service for over 25 years. A large number of soldiers serving in both Iraq and other locations have evaluated this new model over lengthly periods and all reports have been very favourable. The back of the case bears various contract markings and the watch is supplied with a current issue NATO webbing strap.

MWC G10 50m PVD Stealth with Battery Hatch Product Code: G1 The design of our PVD plated G10 Stealth is unique, not only have we retained the battery hatch on the caseback but MWC is unique in being the only contractor producing standard European Infantry specification watches in a non reflective PVD plated black finish. The special matt black finish is required by many special forces units. The steel is not black all the way through because the black finish is created by a special chemical PVD plating process which is vastly superior to the pained finish used on some watches which can quickly fade or rub off. This PVD process means that the colour of the steel is altered at a molecular level, therefore it will not deteriorate even during heavy usage although it can be destroyed if the case is badly damaged by a piece of metal being gouged out or if the case is worn down by really heavy abrasion against rocks or something similar.

MWC G10 Automatic (100m Water Resistant) Military Watch Product Code: G1021AUT2 This is the latest G10 100m water resistant automatic self winding variant of our popular G10 100m quartz models. In 2007 we started to produce a handwound G10 following requests from both retired and serving military personnel for a mechanical variant of the standard quartz models. Following the huge popularity of these earlier handwound models we started to produce a high performance automatic version with an improved specification and larger casesize in 2010. This self winding model is similar in many ways to the mechanical version but is preferred by most clients because it requires no day to day attention - other than being worn - to keep it running. MWC W10 (with date) 1970s Hand Wound Mechanical Product Code: MWC W10BD This W10 was the predecessor to the quartz G10 models introduced in 1979 and still used by the armed forces of today. This model is a slightly updated version of the original 1960/70s model but retains a military specification hand wound movement. The watch is outwardly identical to the original models except that it now has a screw back for easier maintenance and a date at 3 o'clock which is not shown in the image - it should be noted that earlier versions were serviced by removing the glass which made servicing impractical except by the manufac-turer. The watch has a heavy stainless steel satin finsh case, it is very robust and tough and built to endure the most extreme of conditions, sweep second hand, black dial and luminous markings with fixed strap bars. MKVI US pattern Military Watch (Sterile) in Olive DrabProduct Code: MKVI/SOL The original US military specification MIL-W-46374 was published on 30 October 1964 the objective of this specification was to set out the basic requirements for straightforward low cost watch to be issued to the military. The actual wording from the original specification is below. "This specification covers one type of plastic-cased wrist watch intended for use where a high degree of accuracy is not required. The watch is not intended to receive maintenance support with in the military supply system." These 1960’s disposable field watches were simple watches with a one piece case design manufactured from plastic material measuring 35.5 mm with a simple non-hacking handwound movement. In essence this 1964 specification called for a disposable watch in a plastic case it had minimal water resistance, minimal protection from shock, vibration or temperature extremes. Interestingly the general dial design of the MIL-W-46374C was very much in line with current military dials, for example if you search the current US Mil Spec MIL-W-46374G on google you will see that the dial design laid down over 45 years ago in MIL-W-46374C is still pretty much the same today. The interesting twist with these watches was that we noticed starting in the late 1990s that more and more serving military were calling and asking if we knew where they could obtain one of these models. Interestingly this coincided with a massive reduction in the number of US military watches being issued to soldiers plus a change in U.S. military issued performance standards for watches. The change was primarily based on results expected as opposed to details of construction and appearance. The result of this change was that commercial watches that met the standards became accepted military supply items along with specialized watches that still complied to military specific designs. By the time of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, many military personnel wore the watch they personally preferred rather than a standard GI watch. It was because of this move to a watch of choice we asked a lot of military clients who bought quantities of watches for sale in PX stores etc whether an updated remake of the MIL-W-46374C made sense. The usual reply was that they liked the appearance but could the watch be updated to quartz for improved accuracy? After batting the idea around we decided in 1994 that it made sense to make a more durable and maintainable product but still at a competitive price and in order to achieve this we upgraded the design from the original plastic case to metal and the movement from a cheap mechanical to a reliable and accurate quartz alternative. The primary goal was to retain the exact appearance of the original but bring it up to date. The result is the MKVI which we still make in both branded and sterile variants. A-11 1940s WWII Pattern Military Watch (Automatic) Product Code: A-11 The A-11 was among the first military watches to be equipped with a sweep second hand. This recreation is based closely on the original World War Two design from 1943 but has the advantage that it is now equipped with a self winding 22 jewel movement. The watches at the time were made in a variety of slightly different styles by Elgin, Bulova and Waltham but were all based on an original US government specification laid down at the time. This watch is closest in appearance to the Elgin 539 which used a 15 or 16 jewel movement and were made for the USAAF between 1940 and 1945. The original watch was made from plated basemetal (to save steel) but this modern recreation is solid stainless steel so it should stand the test of time better than the originals.

This particular recreation came into being because in January 2009 we were approached by a US veterans association who asked us to examine the viability of making a watch which was identical in appearance to the original watches which were made by Hamilton, Bulova and Benrus during the Vietnam war. We were sent samples of watches to examine and also the original specification sheets and the result was a watch which was very close to the original and used a high grade fully jewelled handwound movement, this watch was the GG-W-113 which we still make. As a result of making that watch we were contacted again with a view to recreating this even earlier model because these are now almost impossible to find in good sound condition. The reason that finding one is good order is dificult is primarily because as outlined above most were made from 1943 onwards when resources were limited and hence cheap metal was used.
