Maccabi World Union (MWU) expands on its uniquefunction as the worlds only international Jewish sports

organization to develop and influence modern Jewish

identity, lifestyles and aspirations through extensive

educational, cultural and charitable work in over 400

Jewish communities. Guided since 1895 by its famous

mission statement of Sound Jewish Minds in Healthy

Jewish Bodies, MWU is one of the largest Jewish and

mass appeal and success of Maccabis Olympic-style

Games, sports and cultural festivals that are the worlds

largest Jewish events. Annual JCC Maccabi Games in

partnership with the JCC Association in North America

spectators. Regional Maccabi Games in Latin America,Europe and Australia are even larger. Staged every 4

years in Israel, the Maccabiah is simultaneously the

more than 50 national Delegations will compete in 110

tournaments in 36 types of sports at the mammoth 19th

volunteers makes MWU a prime training ground and

source of Jewish leadership. Maccabi is a leading

immigrant educational support, elderly care and othersocial-uplift causes in Israel. In NY, LA, and Miami, MWU

operates Young Leadership Committees (YLCs) of highly

With similar founding principles and missions, MWU and

ZBT are natural partners: both began as Zionist clubs

dedicated to social justice, Jewish unity and fellowship.

ZBTs Circle of Brotherhood, including Alumni, Service,Education, Athletics, Social and Bonding directly parallels

MWUs mission and programs in Diaspora and Israel.

Maccabis flagship sports & cultural events epitomize the

educational values of athletics, fair play, social interaction

and bonding. Maccabis volunteers and Maccabi Tzair

Youth Movement members distribute food parcels

to thousands of needy Israeli families and elderly folk

throughout the country in annual Rosh Hashanah andPassover campaigns, enabling them to celebrate in

dignity and freedom from want. Maccabi Tzairs young

adults volunteer a gap year before military service to

mentor, help educate and keep at-risk youth in school,

off the streets and out of trouble.

The Maccabi-ZBT partnership opens new horizons for

both organizations, yielding extensive access to manyconstituencies. Early awareness of its activities spread

among thousands of JCC Maccabi Games teen athletes

    - all potential fraternity recruits - benefits ZBT and its

chapters. Likewise, tens of thousands of JCC Maccabi

Games and USA Maccabi Games and Maccabiah

alumni, and MWUs YLC and Business Forum networks

in Maccabis unrivalled global spread provides highly

effective networking opportunities for ZBT brothers andalumni and vice-versa. It is a partnership for Tikkun Olam

(repairing the world) and for the Jewish Future.
