Console ModeConsole Mode

• Activated by pressing the console button

• Can be activated– during startup phase

– during normal operation

• Provides access to special functions– not available in normal mode

– through connection on port 2

• Press and hold the console button

• Power up the MX250

• Do not release console button until– Status LED flashes green, red, orange, and off*

• this could take up to 1 minute

• Reboot required to exit console mode

*In version 1.2 of software, Status LED flashes green and off

• Assigns fixed IP address 192.168.1.100 to MX250

• Runs a DHCP server, leases one IP address– 192.168.1.101

– directly connect your laptop to console port

• Allows you to: – change external IP address of the MX250

– reset master password

– perform emergency recovery

• Press and hold the console button

• Do not release console button until– status LED flashes green, red, orange, and off

• this takes 2 seconds

• No reboot required to exit console mode– press and hold console button for 2 seconds

– Status LED returns to previous condition

Automatic ShutdownAutomatic Shutdown

• Allows you to safely shutdown system– press and hold reset button for one second

– Status LED flashes orange

• System applications are properly shutdown– safely shuts down the database

– terminates all active processes

– turns off the power

• Allows you to shutdown the MX250– when it cannot shut down on its own

– same feature on PCs with ATX power supplies

• Initiate during normal operation by holding down reset button for 10 seconds

• May cause database corruption
