What is the Tornado?

A tornado is a violent, dangerous, rotating column of airwhich is in contact with both thesurface of the earth and acumulonimbus cloud or, in rare

cases, the base of a cumuluscloud. The most intense of allatmospheric phenomena, tornadoes come in many shapes

and sizes but are typically in theform of a visible condensationfunnel, whose narrow end touchesthe earth and is often encircled

by a cloud of debris and dust.

Most tornadoes have wind speeds between

40 miles per hour (64 km/h) and 110 mph(177 km/h), are approximately 250 feet (75 m)across, and travel a few miles (severalkilometers) before dissipating. The mostextreme can attain wind speeds of more than300 mph (480 km/h), stretch more than a mile(1.6 km) across, and stay on the ground fordozens of miles (more than 100 km).

The signs of Tornado. The sign of tornado areViolent, low-pressure storm, relatively small in diameter but

with very rapidly rotating windsand an intense updraft near thecentre. The relatively lowpressure at the centre of a

tornado's funnel-like vortexcauses cooling and condensation, making the storm visible as arevolving column of cloud, which

is called the funnel.

The problem causes

Tornado.Tornado are formedwhen hot air and coldair are mixed. The

clouds grow larger andlarger. Then, athunderstorm is brewedup with a string

updraft. the moisture inthe warm air rises andcondenses into largeclouds.

Where does Tornado

frequently occurs?Tornadoes can and do happenany time of the year in just about anylocation." No one knows this betterthan National Severe Storms

Laboratory. Tornadoes occur mostoften at latitudes between 20° and60°, and they are relatively frequent inthe united states, Russia, Europe,Japan, India, South Africa, Argentina,New Zealand, and parts of Australia.violent tornadoes are confined mainlyto the united states, east of the RockyMountains.

The ways to prevent forTornado.

The best way to protect against tornadoes isa well-built house, strong enough to withstandfierce winds. Engineers recommend walls of

reinforced concrete, well-anchored to afoundation. A solid roof can also secured withstrap anchors over the rafters. Many of the people in Tornado Alley who don’t

have strong houses have built storm cellars. Stormcellars of this kind should be separate from thehouse, located near the southwest corner of thebuilding, and not too close to the house walls.

The doors should open inward in case debris blocks

the exit, and should have a good drainage systemto prevent flooding.A tactic once used to reduce tornado damage wasto open a building’s windows, equalizing air pressure

inside and outside. However, new studies suggest itis better to keep all windows closed againsttornadoes.

Worst by Tornado

Tornadoes can destroy anything intheir path. Some common things are

houses. Tornadoes can also destroy cars. They can throw them far. They also canrip up fields or grass areas. Moreover, itcan make people die or serious injury.Tornadoes are very destructive.

The ways to prepare forTornado.

You would want good insurance, a good safefor jewels, documents, etc, You would want tolearn how to be very safe and what to do whenperhaps a tornado does end up coming.

Don't forget fresh water. blankets, batteryradio and extra batteries. If you go to yourbasement , stay near the walls or the exit door.If a house caves in, it usually goes center first.Do the duck and cover when you actually hear"the train coming". It does really sound like thatwhen it's right over you. When it's safe to comeout, watch out for down power lines.

Keep canned foods and juices in pantry orbasement ,if cool make sure you have can openers.Shut off gas main at your house if any chance ofa leak. Small towns usually have a tornado siren. For the start and the all clear. Don't come out till you hear the all clear, there may be smaller

tornados coming . Listen to your transistor radioas much as possible for updates.
