my evaluation
DESCRIPTION
This is my evaluation about my A-Level Preliminary film.TRANSCRIPT
Evaluation For the Preliminary Film the task was to create a short clip, which involved a character opening a door, sitting at a table, and has dialogue with another person it also had to last 2 minutes. Once I was aware of what I needed to do I started to put ideas together in order to come up with a storyline. The initial idea I came up with was for my main character to reject a job a mystery person and then they go to college for their lecture but during this time they receive random phone calls and texts from the person and it freaks them out. Before I could begin filming I needed to create a storyboard in order to put my film together. This allowed me to plot out my storyline and what to include in each scene including the criteria set by the examiner. As well as they storyboard I also needed to create a shooting script so it will help me direct when filming and the type of resources I would need to use when filming. The resources I would need are a camera and a tripod. When selecting my equipment I had to make sure the camera was fully charged and tripod was in working condition and the actors were prepared to start filming. Furthermore, I also needed to make sure others did not occupy the location I was using and was in a suitable condition. During filming I tried to include many camera shots, angles and movements as possible, for example long shot and mid shot. Using a different range of camera angles will make the quality of my film better and it will keep the viewers interested in the scene. At the beginning of my film I used a high angle shot as I only wanted one character to been seen. By doing this it creates suspense for the people who are watching. It also allows people to see the characters facial expressions more clearer. My time management for my film was not good because I did not meet the deadline for the preliminary film task as I had overrun with my filming time. Also the people who I had casted to be in my film needed to be free and most of the time they weren’t or they were not in. What I liked about my film was the main actor I used took on the role of the character really well and made the film look real. Also the edits I included to my film fitted in really well and added to the suspense of the film. As well as this the camera shots and angles I used were
appropriate for the scenes. However, what I don’t like about my film is when I was filming there was a lot of noise in the background so I had to make sure I edited it out or made sure it was not louder than my characters voice so they could be heard clearly by the viewers. Furthermore, another thing I did not like about my film is that I should have included more camera shots and angles to make the film more exciting for the viewers. In addition to this, when I was filming my film there was a lot of challenges I had to overcome. For example when I wanted to do a certain type of camera angle I needed the camera to be in a certain position and sometimes this would require me to hold the camera in my hand instead of using the tripod. This was an issue because I did not have a stable hand so when I was filming the camera would be shaking. Another obstacle that was a problem was if I had made a mistake in my film I would of needed my cast members to wear the exact same clothing in order to film the scene again. Also when filming I would of needed to use the same location as before. Overall, I believe my film was good because I done everything I wanted to include and included the assessment criteria, which was to open a door, sit at a desk and have dialogue with another person. However, when I begin to film my trailer I will need to work on my time management so that I don’t overrun on the filming as it delays me getting other work done and that I don’t include any other mistakes that I had done in this film.
