my first experience with technology
TRANSCRIPT
I was born in the year of 1990, so my generation was already subordinated to technology. My first memory of using eletronic devices was when I was about 3 years old – the TV and the VHS player.
My mother used to go out to work and I wanted to watch cartoons and Disney's movies. So she taught me how to use the VHS video putting stickers on the buttons. I learned that the green button was the one to play the movie, the red one was to stop the movie, etc.
Technology has been present throughout my childhood, with video games (like Super Nintendo) and cartoons on TV.
When I started to use the computer and the Internet (about 1999) was originally to do research for school. At the time I was still amazed at how Internet could easily seek information.
When I became a teenager I started to use social networks and quick communication programs. Again internet amazed me by connecting people from different parts of the world.
Nowadays I use technology to communicate with friends and family, to keep me connected to the news and for entertainment. But I don’t consider myself an addicted to that. One exemple:
This is my current mobile phone. I paid £9.90 for it, and it’s perfect to me: no camera, no internet access, but it makes and receives calls.
