My One-Week Erasmus+ experience in Portugal
On January 19th at 8:30 we met at Bari airport. That was the
beginning of unexpected fun and friendship.
I didn't know anyone except one of the teachers who would accompany us on the trip.
I'm a very shy person, and yet I felt comfortable almost immediately (even though I didn't
show it that soon), as the people around me were great. At 10:45
we took our first flight to Milan and it is useless to hide my excitement and joy. The view out of
the plane's window was, to say the least, stunning.
We arrived, we took the second plane and
in the blink of an eye, we were in Lisbon.
Upon our arrival, some Portuguese teachers were
immediately very kind with us.
After eating something and after about 3 hours on a bus,
we went to the Santa Beatriz hotel, a very comfortable
and welcoming place.
I was in 203 room with my roommates Sabrina and Nives.

We planted some flowers in the
school garden.
In the morning We had a welcoming session in the school auditorium and then we were divided
into three groups to do three different activities:
At the end of these activities we had lunch at the school canteen and then, in the afternoon, we went to the
city hall, where we were nicely welcomed and we received some gifts such as paper flowers and some
books. After that, we visited Campo Maior and had dinner at TRINDADE.

C RA F T WO R K P A P ER F L O WER SWe learned about a beautiful Portoguese tradition:
making paper flowers. We had the opportunity to learn
how to make these beautiful pieces of art and we
contributed to the amazing paper flower festival that
takes place in Campo Maior every 4 to 5 years in which
the city transforms in a beautiful place full of colorful
handmade paper flowers.

After meeting two nature-experts in the morning, we spent the
majority of the day outside, in the nature, observing birds,
listening to the sound of the wind, taking photos of what we
liked, appreciating long walks and mainly, having fun.
Lastly, we had dinner at LIRA DOURADA.

I really enjoyed Day 4 program. Elvas is such a
beautiful city, with many important
monuments and many plum factories that have
existed from decades, keeping the original
procedures. We also visited a Contemporary Art
Museum.
We had lunch at Soho, a sushi restaurant.

During the guided visit we learned about how this star-
shaped fort was built to prevent attacks from every
angle, but it was never actually harmed in any way. But
still, the view from the top is amazing and every single
inch of it shows how much hard work and effort was put
in its construction. There are so many details that make
it so special and I'll never forget this wonderful
experience.
Later that night we had free time for some shopping and
we had dinner at ACONTECE, one of the places I
personally preferred.

My One-Week Erasmus+ experience in Portugal
Leaving Portugal, all the new people I met in this adventure, my
roommates, the foreign teachers and just everyone was so hard
and heartbreaking. Taking every step on the way home was a
mix of emotions: happiness to be able to go back to our
"normal life" as well as sadness, because we didn't want to
leave each other. There is such a strong relationship between
us, and we'll never forget everything we went through together
during this week. But, as our teacher reminded us on our way
out of the last airport, "everything comes to an end, even the
good things". And that's the sad truth. I'm so grateful for having
the oppotunity to be part of this Erasmus and I can't wait to
travel more!
