Acknowledgment Words cannot adequately express the gratitude we have for our family and friends who have consoled us during this time of bereavement.

Your presence, prayers, love, and many acts of kindness have truly sustained us. Again, we say

Thank You and may God continue to bless you all.

~The Family

My Hero

You held my hand when I was small

You caught me when I fell

You are the hero of my childhood

And my later years as well

And every time I think of you

My heart still fills with pride

Though I will always miss you Dad

I know you’re by my side

In laughter and in sorrow

In sunshine and in rain

I know you’re watching over me

Until we meet again.

Obituary

Mr. Fredrick Douglas Johnson was born October 5, 1941 in Sanford NC to the union of James Henry Johnson and Harriet C. Johnson.

Fredrick received his education from the Lee County School System. He was a very hard worker that loved to work and provide for his family. He went from farming to working for several companies such as C&H Processing, Lee Paving, Oldham & Oldham. He had such a love and a passion for dump trucks and log trucks that he was a self-taught mechanic. As he began to work on his own vehicles, as well as others in the community, he discovered entrepreneurship. He formed his own Business, “Fred Johnson Trucking” with the aid of his daughter, Stephanie. Fredrick had a salvage yard that was known by many as “The Place” that he cherished. Whether it was rain, shine, sleet or snow you would find him there.

He was a member of New Bethel FWB Church for many years under the leadership of the late Elder John H. Blue. Later in life he joined the Potters House COGIC under the leadership of Dr. Grant A. Blue & Dr. Joyce A. Blue where he served as a Deacon until his health failed.

Fredrick transitioned from his earthly home on December 24, 2018.

Johnson; ten siblings, Willie, Melvin, Lillie Pearl, Pamela, Jannie, Paul, Jimmy, Dennis, Jessie, and Bobby.

Fredrick leaves to cherish his precious memories: six children, Frederick McKendall of Sanford NC, Donna McLean (Caltor) of Roxbury MA, Terry McKendall, Harriet Burch, Stephanie Harrington (Alfonzo) all of Sanford NC, and Carlton Fortune (Casandra) of Raleigh NC; two bonus daughter, Sinatra Edwards and Jackie Donnell (Dave) of Sanford NC. Fredrick had twenty-one grandchildren, thirty great grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He had six siblings, Annie J. Powell, Deaconess Helen J. Covington, Robert D. Johnson, Thurman Johnson (Minister Annie), Herman Johnson (Minister Ola), and Deacon Wade L. Harrington (Pastor Patricia) all of Sanford NC. Fredrick had five sisters-in- law, Gennis Johnson, Pastor Patricia Taylor (Ben), Judith Davis (Dayrl), Sylvia Martin all of Sanford NC, and Sarah McIver of Burlington NC; one brother-in-law, Ronnie McIver (Annette) of Sanford NC.
