Peter Diamandis - the best-selling author of Abundance and Bold, Co-Founder of Singularity University and Mentor to many successful

business start-ups gives the following advice:

“If there is one and only one assignment I advice students on doing this summer, it would be: find out what your passion is, formulate a vision and figure out what it is you would be excited to do every day

for the rest of your life.”

People are depressed have anxiety and are burned out

According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America (ADAA) depression and anxiety are the number one mental health issue in the US and many other developed countries today.

Why?Because people are exhausted • doing work they don’t really care about • that represents no meaning to them • stuck in a life without passion and purpose • pressured by people around them. Everyone else seems to have an

awesome life, at least according to their Facebook profiles.

Why myLife Coach?Because we need it!

The Problem

How did we get here?200 years ago someone’s purpose and career paths was quite clear, often inherited from generations before. Today everybody can be anything. That’s great! But also brings a burden with it. People are often overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options available.

Look at some areas of our lives.Career: There are so many professions available today it’s almost impossible to pick the right one. And we usually have to make the decision at a very unexperienced age. Family and relationships: At what age do I want to start a family? Do I want to have children? Do I want to be a working parent or focus on raising my child?Living arrangements & lifestyle: Do I want to live alone, with my friends, my partner? Do I want to work from an office or at home? Finances: How important is money in my life? Do I want to be rich and make the sacrifices necessary or am I happy with just “having enough” to have a good life? Our fitness level: Do I want to look like a model, be fit like an athlete or is being healthy my first priority? How we contribute to society: Volunteering, supporting my friends and family, charity?

Why myLife Coach?Because we need it!

The Problem

1. Know what you really want – Have a Vision & know your PurposeDo you really know what you want to do with the rest of your life? How to live a life you can look back at and say you don’t regret anything, you have done it all?Whether it is boosting your health and energy, taking your career to the next level, deepening your relationship, maximizing your finances or all of it.

2. Know what is preventing you from having it?Often what is preventing us from having it, is the lack of clarity about what it is we really want. Or we know what we want but we don’t know how to get there. We waste precious time by making unnecessary detours because our actions are not aligned with our desires and beliefs.Don’t try to fix your problems, create a life you love!

3. Take ActionCreate a road map and make sure you keep an eye on your end-goal, your vision. Be fully aware of the purpose of each action in your life and you will start to naturally steer you life in the desired direction.

4. Celebrate Your AchievementsEnjoy the sense of power and control you have over your future. Share your success with others. Celebrate your life!

The Solution

Page 7: my Life Coach for Students & Graduates

Learn through interactive lessonsWe know the human brain learns best by “doing” and stimulating several of our 5 senses simultaneously.

Take action and shape your behavior: Change what is not working. Do more of what IS working.Thought challenges, self-reflection and behavior exercises will help you grow your inner compass, which intuitively knows what is right for YOU.

Reduce stress and be more focusedYou know what you want. You have an action plan. Everything else can step aside. Set yourself up with a plan to start ACTING towards your own goals instead of RE-ACTING to the worlds’ demands.

Be yourselfEvery individual has individual dreams and passions, more or less time and a different style of living. We want to make this as convenient as possible for you. Complete your coaching activities and exercises where and when you want. Focus on what you want and take as much time as you see fit.

Very few Universities teach students about: - They personal Core Values- How to find a Vision & Purpose for Life- Self Reflection and Focus

myLife Coach for studentsKnow where to go early on in Life and increase Focus

Graduating from University is doubtfully a very stressful time. Besides the pressure of exams, essays and grades we have to make one of the most important decision of our lives:

We have to figure out what we want to do with the rest of our lives!

myLifeCoach can help students answer these questions in a interactive, fun and thought provoking way and give them a head-start to make the right decision early in life, preventing them from choosing a career path they later on find out doesn’t fulfill them and leaves them with a job that has little meaning and does not make them happy.

Background & Research conducted in the fieldLife Coaching has a significant positive effect on Quality of Life

Four outcome studies have been in the life (or personal) coaching domain, with community and student samples. These have indicated that coaching can improve indeed facilitate goal attainment, reduce anxiety and stress(Grant, 2003), and enhance psychological and subjective well-being (Green, Oades, & Grant, 2006; Spence & Grant, 2007) and resilience, while reducing depression, stress or anxiety (Green, Grant, & Rynsaardt, 2007).

Green, Oades and Grant (2006) found that gains from participation in a 10-week solution-focused cognitive-behavioural life coaching were maintained at a 30 week follow-up.

Results form a doctoral dissertation by Anthony Grant: Towards a Psychology of Coaching: The Impact of Coaching on Metacognition, Mental Health and Goal Attainment.

The Coach Yourself (Grant & Greene, 2001, see Appendix) life coaching program is a structured life coaching program which is based on a solution-focused, cognitive-behavioural model. In common with many life coaching programs the Coach Yourself program guides individuals through a systemised process of self-assessment, goal setting, planning and action, and shows them how to establish a system by which they can systematically work through the self-regulation cycle of monitoring and evaluating their progress towards their goals.

The life coaching program appeared to have a beneficial effect on mental health. Participant's reported levels of depression, anxiety and stress were significantly reduced, with statistically significant effect sizes of d = 0.82, 0.48 and 0 .69 respectively. Further, participants reported a significantly enhanced quality of life with an observed large effect size of d = 1.62. Also as predicted, participants' levels of insight significantly increased following the life coaching program with a medium effect size being observed (d = 0.59),and participant's levels of self-reflection significantly decreased (d = 0.76).
