my life in my words

1
A few months back, the midterm examinations at my college had just ended, and our class results were not so good. Several students had flunked the economics test. So, our economics teacher assigned two of those students to me, and instructed me to prepare them for a retest. Everyone was cracking jokes about how hopeless those two were and how it would be impossible for me to help them clear the retest. But I had a different take on the situation. It is in my nature to see the potential in everyone and not to make fun of their temporary inability to do or achieve something. So I started teaching them, and truthfully, they were a bit of a challenge. One of them was very non-serious while the other was highly overconfident of himself. I kept approaching them and bidding them to prepare for the retest. Finally, they heeded my words .I taught them complex economic concepts in the simplest of words, despite their constantly wandering off track. For instance, one of them constantly kept on disrespecting me and telling me how incompetent I was, how I lacked skill and how I will not be able to teach him properly. But I did not, in the slightest measure, let pride and anger get in my way, and did everything with in my mortal powers to help them clear the test. This made me realize that unlike most people I had control over two of the most dangerous enemies of man, anger and pride, which is really helpful if one wants to lead a team and achieve the objective assigned while reforming other as well. The day came and they cleared the test. I believe, I was only able to achieve this by having faith in my students, being committed to them and forgiving them for their lapses, which I now think are some of my best qualities.
