MY FEELINGS ABOUT POETRY

I like to listen to rhymes

I only like to listen to other people reading it

I hate it if I’m the one that has to read it out loud

I don’t know how to make a poetry

Reading it out loud makes me feel like I’m in hell

I hate making it.

THE TIGER

After reading the poem the tiger I didn’t understand some of the words because the words were a little bit old and I didn’t know what they mean.

THE TIGER TIGER, tiger, burning bright

In the forests of the night,What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In the forests of the night,What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skiesBurnt the fire of thine eyes?

On what wings dare he aspire? What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what artCould twist the sinews of thy heart? And when thy heart began to beat,

What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain? In what furnace was thy brain?

What the anvil? What dread graspDare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,And water'd heaven with their tears,

Did He smile His work to see?Did He who made the lamb make thee?

Tiger, tiger, burning brightIn the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eyeDare frame thy fearful symmetry?

STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING

Whose woods these are I think I know. His house is in the village though; He will not see me stopping here

To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queerTo stop without a farmhouse near

Between the woods and frozen lakeThe darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shakeTo ask if there is some mistake.

The only other sound's the sweepOf easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep,

And miles to go before I sleep,And miles to go before I sleep.

ABOUT THE POEM “STOPPING BY WOODS ON A SNOWY EVENING”

I think it means that there is a man traveling with his horse and he sees a forest and a village with a house in it and the house is covered in snow. He stops at the village and his horse is confused because he stops at a place with no farm house and at the darkest evening of the year. He also has a promise to keep.

IMAGE TO MATCH THE POEM

I choose this picture because it is just like the description in the poem about the man riding the horse into the forest when and he sees a little house in a small village

DOG ASLEEP QUESTIONS

Before we look at the poem “Dog” let’s make a list of the ways dogs look when they are asleep. Think about their face (eyes, ears, nose, tongue), limbs, tail

Ex: feet in the air, one eye open, etcTheir eyes are closed and the legs are streched

Think about the places dogs like to sleep.Add to the list below of favorite doggie sleeping placesOn the floor

What movements have you seen sleeping dogs make?Add what you have seen to the list below:The stretch and yawn

DOG ASLEEP

Under a maple treeThe dog lies down,

Lolls his limpTongue, yawns,

Rests his long chinCarefully between

Front paws,Looks up, alert;

Chops, with heavyJaws, at a slow fly,

Blinks, rollsOn his side,

Sighs, closesHis eyes: sleeps

All afternoonIn his loose skin.

DOG ASLEEP NARRATIVE

I think the dog is Sleeping upside down because its back is on the floor and normally dogs sleep with its body on the floor. The dogs mouth looks like it is smiling and one of it’s hand is on top of it’s body.
