    Arsenal Players

    1. Thierry Henry: Cool, composedand deadly! Arguably the greatest

Arsenal player of all-time and theclubs leading goalscorer. He flour-ished under the guidance of Ar-sene Wenger and was responsiblefor one of the Gunners most glori-ous eras. His clinical finishes werefeared by any defence and goal-keeper in English football. Therestoo many sensational goals ofHenrys to mention, but one of myfavourites was the one against Manchester United in the PremierLeague in 2000.

    2. Ian Wright: Some footballers aregreat goalscorers, others are scor-ers of great goals Ian Wright wasboth! He is one of the best knownfootballers in Britain, and the sec-ond all-time top scorer in Arsenalhistory. He became the quickestArsenal player to score 100 goals

for the club too. During GeorgeGrahams reign, it was Wright

who mostly obliged withthe winner and made fa-mous the 1-0 to the Arse-

    nal chant. Ian Wright,Wright, Wright!

    3. Tony Adams: The ulti-mate one-club man is argua-

bly the best defender in Arsenalshistory. He signed for the club as aschoolboy and made his first teamdebut in 1983. Though he had hisshare of problems off the pitch,Adams fantastic leadership abilitywas much respected on the turf. The former England internationalsclub career, spanning 22 years, started and ended in north Lon-don. His 14 years as captain sawhim celebrate 10 major trophies,

including three league titles inthree different decades.

    5. Frank Mclintock: This fine play-er was a great leader as captain forthe double-winning team of 1971.McLintocks original role was inmidfield but he later moved tocentre-half. In both positions, histireless work rate and commitmentcould not be questioned. He wentonto win three major trophies inthe space of two years. The mostmemorable Frank moment camein the FA Cup final against Liver-pool. Arsenal fell behind in extra-time, but McLintock wasnt los-ing this one. He hauled his side

out of the doldrums yetagain and the rest, as

    they say, is history.

    8. Ted Drake: Drake made hisname at Arsenal as a fearless anrampaging centre-forward. Therecord books illustrate what a vaable addition he was to the all-conquering side of the 1930s. If goals you wanted, he was the mDrake netted a staggering 42league goals in the title triumph1934/35, but the most emphatichighlight of his career came at Aton Villa in a seven goal spectaclar a double hat-trick! Super Tstill holds the top division recorfor the most goals in a game.

    9. Pat Rice: Much more than jusplayer at Arsenal, Rice also serveas a captain and coach. During time in north London, he was aconsistent and solid right-back.

ter retiring from his professionaplaying career, he served as assiant manager for the Gunners, where he played a key role in thclubs successes, including thedoubles of 1997/98 and 2001/02and the unbeaten league season2003/04. A salute to a true legenwhose contribution to the club been tremendous.

    4. Dennis Bergkamp: Known forhis exceptional tactical skill anddefence defying passes rather thanhis scoring rate, Bergkamp hadnever fallen into the category of atraditional striker or forward, rath-er, his role was to fill in the holeor that of a traditional inside for-wards. The most naturally giftedplayer of his era not only trans-formed Arsenal, but the PremierLeague. His fine technique will belong remembered, as will the factthat he was part of the clubs 2005

FA Cup victory the last major tro-phy Arsenal has won.

    6. David Seaman: Safe Hands wasprobably the best ever keeper atArsenal and had many career highsin his time. He will be rememberedfor keeping a Premier Leaguerecord 130 clean sheets.

    7. Liam Brady:The former Irelandinternational was one of the bestleft-footed players ever, if not thebest. His immense skill and excel-lent passing made him a fans fa-vourite. There were many reasonswhy 1971 was such an iconic year

for Arsenal Liam Chippy Bradywas one of them!

    10. Patrick Vieira: One of the mversatile midfielders to haveplayed for Arsenal, the Frenchmaestro was best known as theball-winning midfielder whosedistribution was nothing short oexcellent. He had great leadershskills, could create opportunitieand out-run almost every otheropponent the complete player
