MARKET UPDATESMYANMAR’S PHARMACEUTICAL SECTOR

Myanmar’s Pharmaceutical Industry is estimated to be of about USD 100 – 120 Million in CIF Value.

Myanmar’s pharmaceutical �rm – Medi Myanmar Group has established a joint venture with the Indonesian Pharmaceutical company PT. Phapros TBK, a subsidiary of PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (RNI) to develop the business of pharmaceuticals and medical devices in the country.

Indian Pharma Companies are about 35- 40% of the market followed by Pharma compa-nies from Bangladesh, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Pakistan and Vietnam.

Myanmar opened its third pharmaceutical factory in the town of Insein to increase annual production of capsules, pills and tablets from 800 million to 1.3 billion.

Many foreign countries that have invested in Myanmar’s pharma industry are seeing strong returns for their business. This has also brought positive changes to the lives of the 53 million people.
