Fascia is a tough connecve ssue that spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web from the head to the feet, without interrupon. Trauma, surgery or inflammaon oſten restricts this web, re- sulng in “crushing” pressure (approx. 2000 lbs per square inch) on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, bones, and organs. Since standard tesng procedures such as X-rays, myelograms, CT scans and electromyography do not show fascial restricons, it is generally agreed that an extremely high percentage of people suffering from pain, headaches, fibromyalgia or lack of moon may have fascial problems that have been misdiagnosed. The fascial system has an appearance that is similar to a spider web or sweater. It is important to understand that this powerful uninterrupted “web” exists from head to toe. In its normal and healthy state, fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuraon; it has the ability to stretch and move. When people experience physical trauma, surgery or inflammaon, fascia loses its flexibility; it becomes like a “straight jacket” of crushing pressure and causes pain throughout the body. Myofascial Release -The John F. Barnes approach

Myofascial Release is considered to be the most important and effective form of therapy in the his-tory of health care!

M yofascial Release, as developed and refined by John Barnes, is safe, gentle and consist-ently effective. This technique, which pro-

duces positive and lasting results, is a very thorough hands-on procedure that applies sustained pressure into the myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain, head-aches and to restore motion. Fascia is a tough connective tissue that spreads throughout the body in a three dimensional web from the head to the feet, without interruption. Trauma, surgery or inflammation often restricts this web, re-sulting in “crushing” pressure (approx. 2000 lbs per square inch) on nerves, muscles, blood vessels, bones, and organs. Since standard testing procedures such as X-rays, myelograms, CT scans and electromyography do not show fascial restrictions, it is generally agreed that an extremely high percentage of people suffering from pain, headaches, fibromyalgia or lack of

motion may have fascial problems that have been misdiagnosed. The fascial system has an appearance that is similar to a spider web or sweater. It is important to understand that this powerful uninterrupted “web” exists from head to toe. In its normal and healthy state, fascia is relaxed and wavy in configuration; it has the ability to stretch and move. When people experience physical trauma, surgery or inflammation, fascia loses its flexibility; it becomes like a “straight jacket” of crushing pressure and causes pain throughout the body.

Healing is a Journey

He established his first clinic, Rylander Physiotherapy Centre, in 1995.

Based in Scarborough, this centre now serves as the head office for

the Windswept Physiotherapy Centre. Since opening his Rylander lo-

cation, Marius has treated countless patients and changed hundreds

of lives. He continues to search for new theories and techniques in

order to enhance his treatments, often attending seminars and cours-

es throughout Canada and the United States. In 2006, he was intro-

duced to John Barnes, an international lecturer, author, and authority

on Myofascial Release. After spending many weeks alongside John

Barnes during seminars and skill enhancement programs at the inten-

sive treatment centre in Sedona, Arizona, he gradually began incorpo-

rating Myofascial Release into his practice. After two years of wit-

nessing the impact this technique had on his patients, he began

treating exclusively with Myofascial Release. Since then, he continues

to successfully treat countless patients, including those whose pain

could not be explained through the use of traditional assessment or

testing.
