Trend Introduction

Mystical Nymph is drawn out of the inspiration of a dark enchanted forest. With

the earth influenced color range that are dark strong and colors that call attraction to the

light soft colors in order to create curiosity. This is to keep eyes on the subject wearing the

garment. In order to give the person a mysterious glow almost conniving feel. Like if the

person was casting a spell. This is an Esmeralda meets Grant Wood and Tim Burton

influenced trend.

The clothing of this whole trend is about creating safe haven for women. So

they can feel secure in what they wear and feel that they can mesmerize a man. That they

can almost put them in a trance as they walk around at the beach or mall. This trend is to

give women a chance to dress comfortable, but strong. The garments are meant to make a

women stand out and to bring out her personality.

Runway and Street inspired

This trend has many influences most of it comes from Russia due to the fact that

there is about 200,000 Romanian Gypsies in Russia. Who still keep alive there culture and

traditions. So this is greatly influenced by Russian street fashion. The street fashion in

Russia has a lot more according the weather. The street fashion colors are dark and many

have earth tones this is were we grab two of our earth toned colors. We have also been

inspired by a lot of runway garments. The patterns that they choose and the light colors

that bring out the softness in many of the garments than the solid black color that gives the

garment a strength to its structure.

Art and Culture

Page 18: Mystical Nymph

Art movement and Culture Heritage The first introduction to the gypsy life to many American women was with the

Disney movie the hunch back of Notre Dame. When Esmeralda is introduced to the movie,

she is filled with such grace and mystery. Along with that moment I have spent time

reading about gypsies and their history. During past centuries Gypsies have always been

seen as evil and wicked people. It was once believed that they were witches and that if you

ever passed their path you were to be cursed.

Than looking at these photographs and artistic paintings that express gypsies in

different ways you can see that there are many influences of past beliefs. There is a

darkness in the pictures but yet a soft glow that calls the attention of peoples eyes. Some

pictures portray them as savage untamed flowers that are still soft and fragile. That is really

what women are about these days. Women may be delicate creators though they are also

strong and mysterious. They look fragile and weak but women are competitive and quick

thinkers. We noticed how Gypsies used color to bring life into their dancing to mesmerize

people in the stories they tried to tell. This is another thing that inspires us to also bring a

story into our trend.
