The Green and Gold handled their business early, scoring 24 points in both the first and second quarter, led by quarterback Joe Germinerio scoring with both his arm and his legs and running back Joe Benedict running in two of his own. Defensively, it was a similar story to past weeks, with the front seven wreaking havoc. The unit allowed negative 37 rushing yards on 27 attempts and sacked the quarterback four times, twice by Josh Greenwood and twice by Lawrence Jenkins. Jenkins performance earned him a spot on the D3football Team of the Week. The pass defense was effective as well, forcing two interceptions to make it a total of ten on the season, ninth-best at the DIII level. The Green and Gold continue to raise the bar, extending their program record of regular season winning streak to 17, and mark the first time they have opened back-to-back seasons with 5-0 marks. GAME NOTESGolden Eagles FootballHEAD COACH JASON MANGONE

Jason Mangone is entering his sixth season as head coach of the Brockport Football team. Man-gone joined the coaching staff in 1999, and was promoted to head coach in 2013 after serving as offensive coordinator since 2004.

Mangone was named the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) National and Regional Coach of the Year in 2017 after leading the Golden Eagles to a 13-1 record and an appearance in the NCAA Final Four. The season was the best in Brockport football history, and marked the first time in over 10 years that an East Region team advanced to the NCAA Semifinals. 20 different Brockport players earned All-Conference accolades, including an Offensive Player of the Year, Special Teams Player of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. 10 more earned D3Football.com All-East Region status, with four being named All-Americans. Mangone was also named the D3foot-ball.com Regional Coach of the Year and the Rochester Press Radio Club Coach of the year following the 2017 season. The team was awarded the Lambert Cup for best team in the East Region for the first time since 2002.

In 2016, the football program posted a 7-4 record, earning a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) President’s Bowl at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa. They averaged over 37 PPG, outscoring their opponents by nearly 10 points-per-game. 11 different players earned All-Conference selections, while Dan Andrews was named an All-American for the second straight season. Freshman quarterback Joe Germinerio also impressed in his rookie campaign, being named the ECAC Rookie of the Year.

During the 2015 season, the Golden Eagles posted a 5-5 record under Mangone. Throughout the season, 12 Golden Eagles brought home 29 awards including d3football.com’s National Team of the Week, and the Empire 8’s Defensive and Offense Player of the Year. Brockport earned seven spots on the All-Empire 8 team, plus two to the d3football.com All-East Region Team. Andrews and Tarik Bennett were each named All-Americans by d3football.com. Andrews broke several school records and was the national scoring leader with a 15.6 points per game average, earning him the award for Brockport’s Athlete of the Year. Bennett ranked 13th in the nation in tackles for loss with a 1.9 average and set a new Brockport record in career sacks with 25.5.

In 2014, Mangone coached Brockport to a 5-5 record including a three game winning streak midway through the season. Under Mangone, 17 Golden Eagles tallied 22 awards ranging from ECAC Rookie of the Week to the offensive line earning a spot on d3football.com’s National Team of the Week. Brockport also earned a handful of postseason awards as six Golden Eagles were named to the Empire 8 All-Conference team and one player was named to the d3football.com All-East Region Second-Team. Mangone also led the football team to earning one of Brockport Athletic’s highest awards as Richie Welch was named Brockport’s Male Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Mangone had a memorable 2013 season, his first as head coach. He led the Golden Eagles to an 8-3 overall record, as well as the first New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Conference Champion Title in school history and an East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northwest Bowl victory. The eight wins are the highest by a head coach in his first season and the fourth most wins in a season in school history. Mangone’s team broke the total yards in a season record with 4,793, as well as rushing yards in a season with 2,354. The Golden Eagles also captured the first shutout since 2005 and the first NJAC shutout in program history with a 24-0 win over Montclair St. on Nov. 9. Nationally, out of 242 teams, the Golden Eagles finished ninth in sacks against, 20th in team pass efficiency defense and 29th in total offense.

Under Mangone, Andrews earned the 2013 NJAC Rookie of the Year honors. 13 players finished the season on the All-Confer-ence Squad. Andrews, Ben Woolston, Bruce Doyle, Cortland Haines and Colby Morabito were all selected first-team. Andrews and Haines were the only two freshmen in the conference to make the first-team selection.

In 2012, the Golden Eagles offense was ranked 16th in the country in total offense with 475.7 yards per game. Quarterback Joe Scibilia and wide receivers Jake Spalik and Andrew Mrozek broke several school records in the process while running back Tyrone Nichols became the sixth 1,000-yard rusher in school history. Scibilia became the school’s first 3,000-yard passer and finished seventh in the country in total offense.

Mangone has coached the top three passers in school history with Scibilia, Jake Graci and Zack Luke.In 2011, the Golden Eagles led the entire New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in total offense with 435.8 yards per game. The offense also boasted the most passing yards per game, with Scibilia throwing for 250.9 yards per game in eight contests.

In 2010, Brockport averaged 24.7 points per game, including scoring a season-best 45 points vs. Buffalo State. Under Mangone, the Golden Eagles ranked second in the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in total offense (375.2 yards per game), second in rushing offense (196.2 yards per game), third in passing offense (179 yards per game) and fifth in scoring average.

The 2009 team broke 20 school records with the offensive unit earning the title of the highest scoring and most prolific passing teams in school history. The unit finished eighth in the country in total offense averaging 466.5 yards per contest and set the school record for points per game with 36.7. In 2008, the Brockport offense shattered several records for scoring as well as individual records for TDs in a game, season and career. Garet Lynch broke several of the offensive records and was ranked fifth in the country in scoring with 14.26 points per game and was seventh in the nation in rushing with an average of 151.36 yards per contest. In 2007, the Golden Eagles boasted the top running back in the ACFC. In 2005, Brockport had the conference rookie-of-the-year in Zack Luke.

Mangone is a native of Lancaster, N.Y., and currently resides in Henrietta with his wife, Janine and sons Brendan and Evan.
