CANAPORT LNG TERMINAL TOUR

Some 75 participants to Green Marine’s annual conference had the oppor-tunity to visit the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Canada in partnership with Canaport LNG. The visitors obtained a better understan-ding of the unloading manoeuvres, as well as the storage and distribu-tion processes involved with LNG. Canaport LNG is a state-of-the-art LNG receiving and regasification terminal. Supplying natural gas to Canadian and American markets, Canaport LNG has a maximum send-out capacity of 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

GREEN MARINE WEEK IN SAINT JOHNThe City of Saint John proclaimed the week of June 8th to 16th as Green Marine Week to highlight the GreenTech 2014 confe-rence being held in the port city. The Green Marine flag was raised in front of City Hall in the presence of City Councillor Shirley McAlary, Port Saint John’ s CEO Jim Quinn and, Green Marine’s executive director, David Bolduc.

THE CONFERENCE

THE CERTIFICATION

A diversified and forward-thinking agenda with speakers and exhibitors presenting informative and enri-ching content was key to this conference’s success! The PDF files of the presentations are on line.

The Certification evening had ‘improvement’ as its theme: first with the continual rise of the global average for Green Marine participants’ environmental performance, reaching 3.1 for 2013; and secondly, via the example of perse-verance and, self-transcendence shared by our guest speaker, Mylène Paquette. After a full day of rewarding, informative presentations, she captivated the heads and hearts of Green-Tech 2014’s participants with her enthralling story. On November 12, 2013, after 129 days and 5,000 kilometres at sea, she became the first North American woman to row solo across the North Atlantic Ocean - from Canada to France.
