Challenges with SNMP
Problem 1: While most devices support monitoring through SNMP v1/2c, networks that enforce stricter security policies may employ SNMP v3 only
Problem 2: Some newer network devices are starting to support only one SNMP version; version 3

SNMP v3 Details
• Support for Authorization, Authentication, and Encryption
• Supported on Network Devices
• OID’s are the same for all versions
• If SNMP v3 is detected, that version is used in N-central on a device
• Multiple SNMP community string support

Updating Device Names
Problem: When a devices hostname is updated, N-central does not change the name in the UI making it challenging for a technician to manage

• Checkbox on the properties tab that will keep a devices name up to date
• Option included in Administration -> Defaults
• Disabled on upgrade
• Enabled on fresh install

Maintenance Window Enhancements
Problem: End Users can become confused or may not trust pop-ups on their computers. MSPs need the capabilities to send custom messages to end users indicating a reboot is necessary.

• Maintenance Windows include a new option to customize reboot messages
• New Default Message
• Custom Message
• New Variable called “MessageFrom” which refers to the SO Name

AV Enhancements
Problem: Bitdefender® AVC service does not follow the same rules when discovering a threat – AVC will automatically delete the threat. In situations of a false positive or if cleaning of a file fails, the file will be deleted automatically.

• Option to make a ‘copy’ of the file and store in quarantine
• Disabled in existing profiles on upgrade
• Enabled on new profiles after upgrade
• Enabled on new profiles with new install

CDP API
Problem: If a customer would like to retrieve a list of devices through, they can currently only use filters like Device Name or Customer Name. This poses a problem when they was to retrieve all “Tier 1” Devices or “Gold” devices – details that are typically defined through Custom Device Properties
