NAIDOC Public Speaking On Thursday, September 14th Isaac Lloyd and Caleb Hines competed in the 2017 Regional NAIDOC Public Speaking Competition at Narrandera High School. The topic was ‘Language Matters.’ The boys competed against four other schools from across the Riverina. Although they did not advance to the next level, their score of 36 out of 40 was a great achievement. Congratulations to the boys on how they represented BCS. They received great praise from both the adjudicators, and people from other schools on their speech and how they presented themselves.

PRINCIPAL’S PERSPECTIVES Congratulations to Year 12 who are this week completing their formal schooling. The celebrations such as assemblies and the graduation dinner are a fantastic way to end thirteen years of schooling. Good luck to all of our Year 12 students sitting their HSC examinations over the next six weeks. Remember the future is not defined by your exams. The future begins after they have finished. It is always important to give everything you do your very best shot, but make sure you keep some perspective. When you walk out of that final exam, you have the world at your feet. I am looking forward to hearing our future school leaders present their leadership ambitions and how they will embody the school values into their leadership role. All students who put themselves forward are forming part of their ongoing leadership journey and are doing themselves and the school proud. Balranald Central School celebrated RU OK day on Thursday 14th September. The day is a campaign and effort to encourage all Australians to take care of individuals who may be going through a hard time and to create a world where everyone is connected. “Just by asking how they, ‘are you ok?’ can change the course of someone’s life and the day highlights that there is no shame in asking for help. Balranald Central School successfully raised $394.50 for R U OK Day awareness campaign. Congratulations to the Year 5/6 class for organising the Country themed Primary Disco on Friday the 15th. I was very impressed with our student’s organisation and event management skills. It was great to see our Primary students enjoying each other’s company and the range of activities provided. The Disco raised $562.40 to go towards costs associated with the Stage 3 excursion. A full report will be in the newsletter next term.
We also had the Stage 5 fundraiser, which was wear your pyjama’s to school day on Friday 15th September. Thank you to all the students who contributed a gold coin. $121.40 was raised which will directly go towards the costs of the Year 9/10 reward excursion. We will be ending the term this Friday 22nd September with a Science Theme. All students will be broken into small groups and will rotate through a range of fun and interesting Science activities. I am looking forward to the Science celebration. Thank you to all staff and students for your efforts in such a busy term. Everyone is well deserving of a break! School will resume for all students on Monday October 9th. There is no staff development day. Enjoy the two weeks break. If travelling over the holidays, do so safely. See you all next term.
