John Means took over the head golf coaching position at Idaho for the 2010-11 season and has continued to elevate the Vandal program. This season’s Big Sky Championship, which includes Coach of the Year, Player of the Year, Fresh-man of the Year and three fi rst-team all-conference selec-tions, solidifi es the path he has designed for the Vandals.

Means' coaching career began at the U.S. Military Acad-emy where his teams won 11 conference titles in 11 years. He further proved himself at the University of Minnesota, where, in just three seasons, he led the Golden Gophers to the NCAA Championship Tournament. That started a run of eight successive NCAA appearances by the Golden Go-phers and eight successive seasons ranked in the top 20.

His experience in building a winning golf program at a school with winter weather made him the choice of the search com-mittee.

Means said he likes the challenge of golf in a four-season climate.

"There is an opportunity at Idaho to do something that has never been done before - compete for a national champi-onship from the snowy country," Means said. “We can do things to shake up the world of golf."

Means left college golf in 2002 to start his own golf teach-ing center. He was the Director of Golf and Consultant for the Mulligan Masters Golf Learning Center in Lake Elmo, Minn., for the past four years. He doubled as the coach of the Wisconsin-Eau Claire women's team during that time and, as he had in the past, led the Blugolds to four NCAA tournaments.

He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and his master's degree from Colorado State University.

2014-15: Capped a stellar season as the Big Sky Conference’s Player of the Year after winning the league championship with an eight-under 208 ... the league title was his third top fi nish of the season after tying for fi rst at the Wyoming Southern Dunes and Wyoming Cowboy Classic ... he is ranked sixth nationally in scoring with an average of 69.61 per round ... in addition to winning three times, he had fi ve other top 10 fi nishes and a total of 10 top 25 outings in 11 tournaments ... his low round was 65 ... 15 of his 33 rounds were in the 60s ... twice he was 10-under par, twice he was nine-under par and once eight-under.

2013-2014: Played in all 11 tournaments and had the team’s best scoring average to earn fi rst-team all-Western Athletic Conference and Freshman of the Year honors ... best fi nish was second at Phoenix but also had top-10 outings at the Itani Homes (tie for fi fth) and the WAC Championship Tournament (eighth) ... low round of the season was 66 at the Phoenix Desert where he also had his low tourna-

ment with a 203... had three top-10 fi nishes and a total fi ve top-25.

High school: Du Toit is a graduate of Selkirk Secondary School in Kimberely, British Colombia…he was the team captain of his golf team, as well as the team captain of the Kimberley Nitros, his club hockey team…also earned fi ve Distinction awards academically, as well as BC’s “Passport to Education” award…he is the son of Alison Walker and Mike du Toit and plans to major in Engineering.

2014-15: Played in nine tournaments ... chosen the Big Sky Conference Freshman of the Year ... fi rst-team all-conference ... had three top-10 fi nish with best effort a tie for second at the Desert Shootout ... tied for third at the Big Sky Conference Tournament and tied for seventh at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment ... showed dramatic improvement from the fall to the spring semesters ... averaged 73.11 per round in the fall and 71.67 in the spring ... had just one over-par round (plus-one 73) during the spring.

High School: Sutton is a 2014 graduate of Stretly School. He is the son of Linda and Adrian Sutton and was born Sept. 16, 1995.

2014-15: Played in two spring tournaments ... had low round of 72.
