Order of Service

Prelude

Lighting of the Christ Candle

Gathering Hymn: “Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing”

1. Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer’s praise, the

glories of my God and King, the triumphs of his grace!

2. The name of Jesus charms our fears and bids our sorrows cease; ‘tis

music in the sinner’s ears, ‘tis life and health and peace.

3. He breaks the power of canceled sin, he sets the prisoner free; his

blood can make the foulest clean; his blood availed for me.

4. To God all glory, praise and love be now and ever given by saints

below and saints above, the church in earth and heaven.

Sharing of the Peace of Christ

Prayer of Approach & The Lord’s Prayer – Rev. Allan Brouwer

Lords’ Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we

forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not in temptation, but

deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory

forever and ever. Amen.

Responsive Reading: Psalm 103 – Kim Harrison

Praise: “Living Hope”

1. How great the chasm that lay between us.

How high the mountain I could not climb.

In desperation, I turned to heaven and spoke Your name into the night.

Then through the darkness, Your loving-kindness tore through the

shadows of my soul.

The work is finished, the end is written. Jesus Christ, my living hope.

2. Who could imagine so great a mercy?

What heart could fathom such boundless grace?

The God of ages stepped down from glory to wear my sin and bear

my shame.

The cross has spoken; I am forgiven the King of kings calls me His

own.

Beautiful Saviour, I’m Yours forever. Jesus Christ, my living hope.

Chorus

Hallelujah, praise the One who set me free!

Hallelujah, death has lost its grip on me!

You have broken ev’ry chain.

There’s salvation in Your name. Jesus Christ, my living hope.

3. Then came the morning that sealed the promise, Your buried body began to breathe.

Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion declared the grave has no claim

on me.

Then came the morning that sealed the promise, Your buried body

began to breathe.

Out of the silence, the Roaring Lion declared the grave has no claim

on me. Jesus, yours is the victory.

Chorus 2X

Time with the Children – Rev. Allan Brouwer

Scripture: Acts 15: 1-21 - Kathy Smit

Hymn: “There is an everlasting kindness”

1. There is an everlasting kindness you lavished on us, when the

radiance of heaven came to rescue the lost. You called the sheep

without a shepherd to leave their distress for Your streams of

forgiveness and the shade of your rest.

2. And with compassion for the hurting You reached out Your hand as

the lame ran to meet You and the dead breathed again.

You saw behind the eyes of sorrow and shared in our tears;

heard the sigh of the weary, let the children draw near.

Chorus

What boundless love, what fathomless grace You have shown us, O God of compassion. Each day we live an offering of praise, as we show to the world Your compassion.

3. We stood beneath the cross of Calv’ry and gazed on Your face at the

thorns of oppression and the wounds of disgrace; for surely You have

borne our suff’ring and carried our grief, as You pardoned the scoffer

and showed grace to the thief.

Chorus

4. How beautiful the feet that carry this Gospel of peace to the fields of

injustice and the valleys of need. To be a voice of hope and healing,

to answer the cries of the hungry and helpless with the mercy of

Christ.

Closing Hymn: “Christ Our Hope in Life and Death”

1. What is our hope in life and death? Christ alone, Christ alone.

What is our only confidence? That our souls to Him belong.

Who holds our days within His hand? What comes, apart from His

command? And what will keep us to the end? The love of Christ, in

which we stand.

Chorus

O sing hallelujah ! Our hope springs eternal; O sing hallelujah! Now and

ever we confess Christ our hope in life and death.

2. What truth can calm the troubled soul? God is good, God is good.

Where is His grace and goodness known? In our great Redeemer’s

blood. Who holds our faith when fears arise? Who stands above the

stormy trial? Who sends the waves that bring us nigh unto the shore,

the rock of Christ?

Chorus

3. Unto the grave, what shall we sing? “Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!”

And what reward will heaven bring? Everlasting life with Him. There

we will rise to meet the Lord, then sin and death will be destroyed,

and we will feast in endless joy, when Christ is ours forevermore.

Chorus

O sing hallelujah ! Our hope springs eternal; O sing hallelujah! Now and

ever we confess Christ our hope in life and death. Now and ever we

confess Christ our hope in life and death.

Benediction – Rev. Allan Brouwer

“Benediction”

1. May the Lord bless you and may He keep you and make His face to

shine upon and when we part ways may you know His grace may

hope everlasting keep you strong.

2. To God be the glory forever and ever, to God be the praise of all men.

To God be the glory forever and ever, to God be the glory. Amen

To God be the glory forever and ever, to God be the praise of

all men. To God be the glory forever and ever, to God be the

glory. Amen
