One of the aims of the Gathering group is to have a series of social events so that the members of our different congregations can meet, mix and generally get to know each other better. We would love this to be done in a relaxed, fun and enjoyable atmosphere. Following our first event in the summer, the Lyme Park picnic, the next planned event is a Barn Dance on Saturday 29 th October in the Guywood Centre 7.30 - 10.30pm. This is intended to be a family fun night with easy dances, an experienced caller and a live band (made up mostly of St. Chadʼs musicians). Please support this event and if you would like to play in the band contact Ken Earith. Richard's Institution The Institution of our new vicar, Revd Richard Pennystan, will take place at St Chad's at 7.30pm on Tuesday 18th October. This is a very significant time for our church and we hope that as many people as possible will be there to welcome Richard and Nells and to pray for them. There will be a social time at the Guywood Centre following the service where we will serve drinks and nibbles. We need to know numbers in advance. If you are going to come to the Guywood, please sign up at the back by Sunday October 16th at the latest, or let Jan ([email protected]) or Jill know ([email protected]) before then. Thank you! Jill and Helen

St Chad’s men climb Snowdon for Africa 8th October 2011 The proposed fundraising walk is to raise money for the famine affecting East Africa. Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope and of power over their own lives. ALL MEN are welcome to join us for the walk. We will be leaving the Lifecentre at 8am (prompt) and returning (hopefully fit and well) by 7pm. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love (Galatians 5:6). Everyone can donate through Christian Aid – either by using this link www.justgiving.com/Ian-Caldwell2 or simply by giving to Ian Caldwell or Joe Pienaar

Cherry Tree Youth Club Decorating Do you have any oddments of brightly coloured emulsion paint that you have finished with? Tester pots are fine. If so please may we have them for a unique feature wall at CTYC. Leave them in the marked box at the back of church. Many thanks! Gill Gosling
