Transit SafetyYou can never be too careful when it comes to your child, which is why every Convaid transit wheelchair complies with RESNA WC19 safety standards. The WC19 Wheelchair Safety Standard is a voluntary industry standard that improves the safety and security of your child when seated in their wheelchair aboard a school bus or van.

Crash Testing: When a wheelchair has been “crash tested”, it means that it has gone through a dynamic crash test to verify the integrity of the wheelchair, and the safety of its occupant in the event of a crash. The crash test is done in accordance with the RESNA WC19 accepted industry standards.

• Forward facing*

WC19: WC19 refers specifically to general design requirements, test procedures, and performance requirements for manual and powered wheelchairs that are designed to offer safe forward-facing seating for passengers traveling in any motor vehicle.

Transit Chair: A wheelchair that meets the design and performance requirements of WC19. These chairs are labeled to show that they comply with WC19.

WC20: WC20 addresses general design requirements, test procedures, and performance requirements for seating systems. By using both a WC19 compliant wheelchair in combination with WC20 compliant after-market seating or positioning components, the wheelchair is safe to transport while forward facing in a vehicle. Expandable shoulder wings protect the body from side impacts and centrifugal forces.The wings adjust up to 4” in width, and add 6” of backrest height.

The air mesh liner and cushions provide better airflow to reduce heat and moisture build up at interfacing surface.

The wedge changes the seat-to-back angle by raising the front of the restraint system.

3 -POINT POSITIONING BELT WITH DEPTH ADJUSTABLE CROTCH STRAP Helps position user’s pelvis properly and prevents submarining out of the chair.

2 -POINT POSITIONING BELTStandard pelvic belt for less involved client (positioned below ASIS) and usually anchored to frame at 45° angle.

4 -POINT POSITIONING BELTFor the more involved client, a 4-point positioning belt with 45° to 60° range (placed below ASIS) can help anchor the pelvis in neutral pelvic alignment, which may in turn facilitate improvement in the trunk and possibly UE function. This belt allows for 2 mounting points on frame each side.

EXTENDED STRAP VEST BUTTERFLY HARNESS Therafin’s exclusive hinged buckles allow a variety of angles from which shoulder straps can be used to facilitate best trunk and shoulder girdle alignment for individual needs. The straps are easy to adjust allowing the vest to conform to the contour of the body.

ANGLE ADJUSTABLE FOOTPLATESFootplate angle is adjustable to accommodate dorsal/plantar extensions/contractors to provide proper foot positioning and alignment. Can be adjusted forward, backward or sideways, and can also be rotated vertically.

The oxygen tank holder accommodates D & E Oxygen Tanks which are the most common Oxygen Tank sizes. It mounts to the side of the chair for easy access, and can be easily removed.
