The even semester of academic year 2018-19 was full of activities and achievements. During the

annual sports and cultural event AAROHAN2K19, Mechanical Engineering students showed their

skills and abilities in every activity. These all activities are helpful in grooming the overall

personality of students and in boosting their confidence.




It gives me great pleasure to inform you that one of our staff members Prof. R.V. Dandage has

completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Sardar Patel College of Engineering, Mumbai

under University of Mumbai on 28/05/2019. Heartiest Congratulations to Prof. R.V. Dandage, your

dedication has surely brought you huge success.

The placement status for 2018-19 batch is really very good with total 36 job offers in 11 different

organisations. Moreover, its really a great feeling to see that some students have more than 1 offers

in hand. Congratulations to all the recruited students and kudos to the TPO, placement coordinator

and all staff of Mechanical engineering department. I take this opportunity to extend our sincere

Department of mechanical Engineering organised a seminar on “Guidelines for Higher Studies

and Job Career" for BE Mechanical students on 18th January 2019.

Presently working as Software Engineer Siemens PLM Software Inc. Cypress, California USA

and his wife Mrs. Anjani Lahane-Shedage working as Software Quality Assurance, Ethos

MS from University of Cincinnati delivered the seminar. Alumni association coordinator Prof.

V.K. Dongare coordinated the seminar.

Department of Mechanical Engineering had organized Expert seminar on “Gate Exam

Awareness” for T.E. (Mech., Auto & Extc) students on 29th January, 2019 through GATE

FORUM. Resource Person for the session was Mr. Paresh Gugale from Imperial Institute of

Excellence, Pune. The main topics covered in the seminar were

i. Career opportunities after GATE Exam.

ii. Nature of questions paper of GATE Exam.

iii. Discussion on Syllabus of GATE Exam Preparation of manufacturing stream subjects for GATE

Exam.

iv. Information regarding coaching, fee structure at Imperial Institute.

Mechanical Engineering Students Association on 7th Feb 2019, on behalf of Rajendra Mane

College of Engineering & Technology under Institutional Social Rsponsibility (ISR) delivered a

seminar on “Use of Solar Energy” at Ashram Shala, Nive. The final year Mechanical Engineering




Students Mr. Rohit Shinde, Mr. Prashant Nade, Mr. Almufid Phansopkar delivered the

seminar. Total 70 students of secondary school have attended this seminar. The objective of

conducting this activity is to give basic knowledge and create awareness among students regarding

solar energy. Dr. S.N. Waghmare (HOD. Mechanical) guided to Higher Secondary School

Student regarding career opportunity in Engineering Field. This activity is successfully completed

under the guidance of MESA Coordinator Mr. A.V. Javir.

Mechanical Engineering Students Association On 7th Feb 2019, on behalf of Rajendra Mane

College of Engineering & Technology under Institutional Social Rsponsibility (ISR) delivered a

seminar on “Fundamentals of Automobile” at Lokvidyalaya, Tulsani. The final year Mechanical

Engineering Students Mrs. Karishma Kadam, Mr. Rahul Pawaskar, Mr. Suyog Kokate, Mr.

Dattatray Karkare delivered the seminar. Total 140 students of secondary school have attended

this seminar. The objective of conducting this activity is to give basic knowledge and create

awareness among students regarding fundamental concepts of Automobile. Dr. S.N. Waghmare

A seminar on “Orientation on Project Mgmt. in Mech Engg” organised by Career guidance

cell of Mechanical Engineering Department on 12th Feb 2019 for Third Year mechanical

engineering students.

The resource person was Mr. Ashish Das, Manager (business development) Synergy school of

business skills, Pune. This school is a division of CAD centre, project mgmt, operational excellence




and people skills. CGC Coordinator Mr. M S Prabhavalkar gave the introduction of programme and

introduced the resource person. The Students actively participated to improve their practical

knowledge and confidence. All about 43 students and departmental staff attended the seminar.

Program was coordinated by Mr. M S Prabhavalkar (Coordinator, CGC).

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized One Day Workshop on “Heating, Ventilation &

Air Conditioning (HVAC)” on 09/03/2019 for TE Mechanical Engineering students. The

Resource person for the workshop was Er. Museb R. Modak from Pragmatic HVAC Engineers

Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai.

During the workshop Er. Museb R. Modak explains importance of safety, concept of Heating,

Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Applications of HVAC, role of HVAC Engineer, tools of HVAC

Design Engineer, Autodesk REVIT software, HVAC Ventilation Systems, Role of MEP Engineer,

information about HVAC AND MEP Institute and case studies of HVAC. Total 52 students have

attended the workshop. The workshop coordinated by Prof. V. K. Dongare, Assistant Professor in

Mechanical Engineering.

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a seminar on “Career Opportunities in

CAD/CAM/CAE” on 19/03/2019 in RAC Lab for BE Mechanical students. The Resource person

for the seminar was Mr. Vishal B. Dawangave STATIC SOLUTIONS CAD/CAM/CAE

INSTITUTE, PUNE. During the workshop Mr. Vishal B. Dawangave briefed importance of




CAD/CAM/CAE in Mechanical Engineering and discussed the different of opportunities such as

Press Tool Design, Machine Tool Design, Plastic and Rubber Mold Design, Engine Design, Wiring

Design and Automotive Seat Design. Total 40 students attended the seminar. The seminar was

coordinated by Dr. S. N. Waghmare HOD Mechanical Engineering.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an Expert Lecture for the Final year

Mechanical Engineering students on 29/03/2019. The expert lecture topic was “COST

ACCOUNTING”. The resource person for the expert lecture was Ms. Masooma Pagarkar who is

Assistant Professor in Finance at the MMS department of RMCET, Ambav. Total 47 students of

BE Mechanical Engineering attended the Expert Lecture. The Expert Lecture was coordinated by

Prof. R.V. Dandage. Following topics were covered during the expert lecture.

❖ Definition of cost and Elements of cost

❖ Cost Sheet, Job costing and Marginal costing

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an Expert Lecture for the Final year

Mechanical Engineering students on 05/04/2019. The expert lecture topic was “FINANCIAL

MANAGEMENT”. The resource person for the expert lecture was Prof. Sudarshan Jadhav who

is HOD of the MMS department of RMCET, Ambav.

Total 22 students of BE Mechanical Engineering attended the Expert Lecture. The Expert Lecture

was coordinated by Prof. R.V. Dandage.

Department of Mechanical Engineering had organized one day workshop on “Temperature

Controller Trainer Kit” on 01st April, 2019. Resource Person for the session was Mr. Raj

Kharat from Apex Innovations Pvt. Ltd. Sangli. The main aspects covered in the session were

Software installation, Software demonstration, Equipment demonstration, Trial and

experimentation on equipment, etc. The session was attended by 8 staff members of Mechanical

Engg. Dept.

The department of Mechanical Engineering of RMCET organized 6 days Certificate course on

“Advance Mechatronics” during 28/03/2019 to 02/04/2019.

Mr. Suhas Gadekar (Head of Mechanical Department, Prolific Systems and Technologies Pvt.

Ltd. Pune) and Mr. Yogesh Wasade (Automation Faculty, Prolific Systems and Technologies Pvt.

Ltd. Pune) were the Resource Persons for this Training course and Mr. Kishor Belhekar provided

the necessary Technical Support. The course was attended by 68 students of TE Mechanical




Engineering. Prof. R.V. Dandage (Training and Placement Coordinator) coordinated the

Course. Mr. Omkar Kulkarni worked as student coordinator.

The course has been approved under the Government of India’s National Skill Development

Corporation (NSDC). The course was completely sponsored by RMCET under its mission to impart

technical value-added skills to the students.

Industry Expert Seminar for the Third year Mechanical Engineering students on 18/04/2019. The

Department of Mechanical Engineering had organized a workshop on “Creo Parametric 4.0”

From 25/05/19 to 28/05/2019. Resource Person for the session was Mr. Rakesh Patil, Design and

Training Engineer at A3L Ed Tech Pune.

The main aspects covered in the workshop were-

❖ Software demonstration

❖ Introduction to Surfacing with various commands

❖ Practicing various case studies related to surface modeling

❖ Introduction to sheet metal

❖ Studying various commands related to sheet metal

❖ Practicing commands for effective use

❖ Working on various case studies such as drawing and development of sheet by sheet

metal tools




❖ Preparation for Tool Test at Different Design Industries and Hands on Practice on

different software tools.

Under Institute Social Responsibility (ISR) to share the technical expertise of RMCET to nearby

institutes; Following faculty members of Mechanical Engineering department visited the nearby

polytechnic institutes and delivered expert lectures on various topics.

Dr. S. N. Waghmare delivered expert lecture on “Basics of Machine Design” At Sahyadri

Polytechnic Sawarde on 22/01/2019 for TY Mechanical and TY Automobile students. Total 95

students were present for the expert lecture.

Prof. A.S.Raut delivered expert lecture on “Gear Drives” at Governement Polytechnic,

Ratnagiri on 15/02/2019 for SY Mechanical Engineering students. Total 56 students were present

for the expert lecture.

“Introduction to Industry 4.0” at Governement Polytechnic, Ratnagiri on 15/02/2019 for SY

Industrial/ Field Visits

As a part of subject Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Industrial visit was conducted at

Aboobaker ICE and Cold Storage, Ratnagiri on 16/03/2019. During Plant Visit Students were

taken through Primary and Utility Area of the RAC Plant. In Primary area student observed

Components and Construction of actual Industrial VCRS plant and Working. Student practically

observed working of VCRS (Compressor, Condenser, Evaporator and Expander), Compressor,

Thermal Pools, Cooling Towers, Piping and Transfer Ducts. Total 58 Students along with Prof.

Suware A. R. visited the plant in two batches.




Industrial visit of BE Mechanical students was conducted at Bafna motors (Dealers of TATA

Motors Ltd.) and Divisional ST Workshop on 9th march 2018.




24 students attended the industrial visit and Prof. Swanand Joshi coordinated this visit. At bafna

motors, Students were guided by their maintenance department. They explained various systems of

automobile and how to check that for a good performance. Students saw various cars in showroom

and also charging and starting systems of automobile in detail.

In the divisional ST workshop, they explained brake, clutch, suspension, transmission and steering

department. There are number of automobile accessories and they explain application of each.

Other than syllabus points, they explained engine and injection system to students. So, students

experienced actual work of automobile maintenance and other systems

As a part of subject Renewable Energy Sources, Industrial visit was conducted at Biogas Electrical

Power Generation Plant, Wai (Satara) on 30/03/2019. During Plant Visit Students understood the

working of Biogas Fuelled Engine with a capacity of 10 Horse power. Total 21 Students along with

Prof. Dongare V.K. and Mr. Nilesh Bhuwad visited the plant.




Alumni Meeting




RMCET organized Alumni Meet at Pune on 17/02/2019. Total 09 students from Mechanical

Engineering Department attended the meet. During meet the students of MH08 delivered the

presentation. The alumni appreciated the efforts of students and offer all possible help from them.

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized Alumni Meet of Final Year Students passed out

in the year 2017-18 on 23rd February 2019 at 1.00pm. The meeting was scheduled in Seminar

Hall (Main Building). Total no. of alumni present for the meeting was 54.

The alumni meeting was headed by HOD Dr. Waghmare S.N. along with other teaching staff

members. This meeting was co-ordinated by Mr. Dongare V.K.

Prof. Rahul V. Dandage successfully completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Sardar

Patel College of Engineering, Mumbai under University of Mumbai on 28/05/2019. His title of

research was “Modelling risks in international projects” under the guidance of Dr. S.S. Mantha

(Ex-Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi).

The award was given for the research paper: “Ranking the risk categories in international

projects using TOPSIS Method” published in International Journal of Managing Projects in

Business (IJMPB- Emerald Publication), ISSN- 1753-8386, Vol. 11 Issue: 2 (April-June 2018),

Prof. R.V. Dandage completed AICTE approved eight weeks NPTEL online course on

“Automatic Control” in Elite+Silver category during January 2019 to March 2019.

Prof. R.V. Dandage delivered a seminar on “Overview of various ranking frameworks” to all

faculty members of RMCET on 07/01/2019 during the Term Commencement meeting. The various

ranking frameworks like NIRF, AICTE-CII, India Today-MDRA, Digital Learning etc were

Shreyas Dongare, Suyog Anerao, Riddesh Ghag & Aditya Jadhav prepared “SCALE MODEL

OF RMCET” under the concept BEST OUT OF WASTE and their work being selected among the

top 100 Record Holders for the year 2019 in India Book of Records. They were felicitated with

the award at Sant Hirdaram Medical College, Bhopal on 15 March 2019.

Shreyas Dongare prepared the largest cardboard DSLR camera model measuring 24 inch × 24

inch and height 18 inch using cardboard, glue, tape and some waste material in 3 days on March 19,




2019 and a record titled 'LARGEST CARDBOARD DSLR CAMERA MODEL' under India

book of Records 2020.

Departmental Achievements

The department of Mechanical Engineering was awarded with the “Best Newsletter Award” for

their departmental newsletter “MECHANEWS” for Year 2018. The award was received by Prof.

R.V. Dandage (Editor, Mechanews) and Dr. S.N.Waghmare (HOD and Publisher, Mechanews) at

the hands of Hon. Chairman Ravindraji Mane during the Prize Distribution ceremony of Annual

Sports and Cultural festival AAROHAN 2K19 on 23/02/2019.

Prof. Swanand Joshi joined Mechanical Engineering department as Assistant Professor on

01/01/2019. He has completed his BE (Mech.Engg.) from RMCET in 2015 and M.E. (Heat Power

Engineering) from Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineeing, Pune in 2018. His joining has

strengthened the Thermal Engineering specialisation in department.

Institutional Achievements

RMCET has been ranked in the list of Top 200 Private Engineering Colleges in India consecutively

second time in the India Today-MDRA survey 2018 as well as 2019. The results of 2019 survey

were published in the 28th May issue of India Times magazine.
