under University of Mumbai on 28/05/2019. Heartiest Congratulations to Prof. R.V. Dandage, your
dedication has surely brought you huge success.
The placement status for 2018-19 batch is really very good with total 36 job offers in 11 different
organisations. Moreover, its really a great feeling to see that some students have more than 1 offers
in hand. Congratulations to all the recruited students and kudos to the TPO, placement coordinator
and all staff of Mechanical engineering department. I take this opportunity to extend our sincere

Awareness” for T.E. (Mech., Auto & Extc) students on 29th January, 2019 through GATE
FORUM. Resource Person for the session was Mr. Paresh Gugale from Imperial Institute of

ii. Nature of questions paper of GATE Exam.
iii. Discussion on Syllabus of GATE Exam Preparation of manufacturing stream subjects for GATE

conducting this activity is to give basic knowledge and create awareness among students regarding

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized One Day Workshop on “Heating, Ventilation &
Air Conditioning (HVAC)” on 09/03/2019 for TE Mechanical Engineering students. The
Resource person for the workshop was Er. Museb R. Modak from Pragmatic HVAC Engineers
Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai.
During the workshop Er. Museb R. Modak explains importance of safety, concept of Heating,
Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Applications of HVAC, role of HVAC Engineer, tools of HVAC
Design Engineer, Autodesk REVIT software, HVAC Ventilation Systems, Role of MEP Engineer,
information about HVAC AND MEP Institute and case studies of HVAC. Total 52 students have
attended the workshop. The workshop coordinated by Prof. V. K. Dongare, Assistant Professor in
Mechanical Engineering.

Industrial/ Field Visits
As a part of subject Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Industrial visit was conducted at
Aboobaker ICE and Cold Storage, Ratnagiri on 16/03/2019. During Plant Visit Students were
taken through Primary and Utility Area of the RAC Plant. In Primary area student observed
Components and Construction of actual Industrial VCRS plant and Working. Student practically
observed working of VCRS (Compressor, Condenser, Evaporator and Expander), Compressor,
Thermal Pools, Cooling Towers, Piping and Transfer Ducts. Total 58 Students along with Prof.
Suware A. R. visited the plant in two batches.

Motors Ltd.) and Divisional ST Workshop on 9th march 2018.

24 students attended the industrial visit and Prof. Swanand Joshi coordinated this visit. At bafna
motors, Students were guided by their maintenance department. They explained various systems of
automobile and how to check that for a good performance. Students saw various cars in showroom
and also charging and starting systems of automobile in detail.
In the divisional ST workshop, they explained brake, clutch, suspension, transmission and steering

As a part of subject Renewable Energy Sources, Industrial visit was conducted at Biogas Electrical
Power Generation Plant, Wai (Satara) on 30/03/2019. During Plant Visit Students understood the
working of Biogas Fuelled Engine with a capacity of 10 Horse power. Total 21 Students along with
Prof. Dongare V.K. and Mr. Nilesh Bhuwad visited the plant.

RMCET organized Alumni Meet at Pune on 17/02/2019. Total 09 students from Mechanical
Engineering Department attended the meet. During meet the students of MH08 delivered the
presentation. The alumni appreciated the efforts of students and offer all possible help from them.
Department of Mechanical Engineering organized Alumni Meet of Final Year Students passed out
in the year 2017-18 on 23rd February 2019 at 1.00pm. The meeting was scheduled in Seminar
Hall (Main Building). Total no. of alumni present for the meeting was 54.

Prof. Rahul V. Dandage successfully completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Sardar
Patel College of Engineering, Mumbai under University of Mumbai on 28/05/2019. His title of
research was “Modelling risks in international projects” under the guidance of Dr. S.S. Mantha
(Ex-Chairman, AICTE, New Delhi).

Prof. R.V. Dandage completed AICTE approved eight weeks NPTEL online course on
“Automatic Control” in Elite+Silver category during January 2019 to March 2019.
Prof. R.V. Dandage delivered a seminar on “Overview of various ranking frameworks” to all
faculty members of RMCET on 07/01/2019 during the Term Commencement meeting. The various
ranking frameworks like NIRF, AICTE-CII, India Today-MDRA, Digital Learning etc were
discussed and an awareness was created among the faculty members regarding the parameters of
evaluation, present status and areas of improvement. The seminar was organised by IQAC of
RMCET.
Prof. Ashish Suware received certificate of appreciation from NPTEL for being the Active SPOC
for NPTEL-Swayam local chapter at RMCET for the period January-April 2019.

Departmental Achievements

Prof. Swanand Joshi joined Mechanical Engineering department as Assistant Professor on
01/01/2019. He has completed his BE (Mech.Engg.) from RMCET in 2015 and M.E. (Heat Power
Engineering) from Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineeing, Pune in 2018. His joining has
strengthened the Thermal Engineering specialisation in department.
Institutional Achievements
RMCET has been ranked in the list of Top 200 Private Engineering Colleges in India consecutively
second time in the India Today-MDRA survey 2018 as well as 2019. The results of 2019 survey
were published in the 28th May issue of India Times magazine.
