Assembly

Assembly this week will be run by the leaders. Gold awards will be presented at the assembly to be held on Friday at 2.30pm in the school hall. During Friday’s assembly students will be practising for our special NAIDOC assembly which will be held on Monday at 11.30am.

Core Value

This week our value is Responsibility. “I can be ready to learn so I

can do my best.”

Thought for the Week

“My grandfather used to say that once in your life you need a

doctor, a lawyer, a policeman and a preacher but every day,

three times a day, you need a farmer.”

P&C Meeting Our P&C Meeting will be held tonight at 6pm in the staff room. All parents and carers are welcome to attend. Parent/Teacher Interviews Reports will be sent home on Thursday. Please see below for information regarding Parent/Teacher interviews. Sent home with every student today was an interview slip to allow you to indicate when you are available to talk to your child’s teacher. Interviews will be held next week. PSSA Boys Touch Football This Thursday Nabiac Public School will host Pacific Palms in a Touch Football Knockout. There is no fee attached to this event. The boys will kick off at 10.30am on the Town Oval behind the school. Parents are welcome to come along and support our team. Mark Jackson Coordintor Stage 3 Public Speaking The Stage 3 Public Speaking Final was held last Friday afternoon. The four speakers from Years 5 and 6 were all enthusiastic and entertaining, and should be commended on the quality of their presentations. Zarrah Scott was the winner for Year 5, with Cooper Brady a close runner-up. Year 6’s competition was taken out by Millie Potts, followed by Lilli P as the runner-up. Congratulations to all students who participated in this year’s competition.

A special mention, and thank you, to Mrs Dunning and Ms Johnson for judging the final competitions.

Mrs Arandale and Miss Dunne. Public Speaking Coordinators

Out of Uniform Day Come dressed as a farmer this Thursday for out of uniform day and help our drought stricken farmers out West. The SRC would like every child to bring a non-perishable food item to school in lieu of the usual gold coin donation. Items such as canned or dried food please. Thank you in advance for supporting our Farmers. Nabiac P.S. Student Representative Council.

AEDC This Monday and Tuesday our school will be taking part in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), which is a nationwide census of early childhood development and helps our school and community understand how children are developing before they start school, what is being done well, and what can be improved. The AEDC is an Australian Government initiative run by the Department of Education and Training.

Children do not need to do anything to be included in the census and will attend class as usual. During the census, teachers record information (including children’s names and dates of birth) based on their knowledge and observations of each child in their class. The questions to be used by the AEDC in the upcoming collection are available at www.aedc.gov.au/instrument.

This year’s AEDC is a great opportunity for everyone including parents, local communities, schools and other agencies to work together to bring long-lasting benefits to children and their families. If you would like more information about the AEDC, please refer to frequently asked questions section on the AEDC website at www.aedc.gov.au, or phone 1800 092 548.

The AEDC is voluntary and is not a school test, so should you wish for your child/children’s information to be excluded from the census, please contact Karin Madden.

This is for kindergarten students only.

Dear Parents This year parent teacher interviews will be held in the last week of term in your child’s classroom. Reports will be sent home this Thursday. This will allow time for you to read the report and have any questions ready for the interview. The interviews will be an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress in class. We will offer phone interview as an alternative for parent’s that can’t make it to school for a face to face interview. Please indicate this preference on the note sent home with every student today and return to school. All class teachers have requested an interview for every child in their class. Please read the following timetable of when your child’s teacher will be available for an interview.
