    BENDIX/KING KR-87 AUTOMATIC DIRECTION FINDER

The radio waves are received at the

    sense/loop antenna, are amplified and

    sent to the receiver.

The receiver processed the loop signalsand drives the indicator to provide

    bearing information.

The indicator, if ADF receiver is in the

ADF mode points to the relative

    bearing station.

    KR 87 ADF RECEIVER

    Two basic modes:

    --The ANT- antenna mode

    --The ADFautomatic direction finder mode

--In the ANT mode the needle remains parked at the 90

    degrees bearing position.

--In the ADF mode, the loop signals provide bearing

information and the indicator points to the relative

    bearing of the station.

    RECEIVERKR 87 ADF

In the ANTmode the needle remains parked at the 90 degrees

bearing position and the unit simply acts as a receiver, allowing

audio reception through the speaker or headphones.

The ANT message on the left side of the display will be

    illuminated.

    KR 87 ADF RECEIVER

The ADF message on the left side of the display will be illuminated and the

indicator needle will point to the relative bearing of the selected station.

In order to tell if there is sufficient signal for navigational purposes, the pilot

can place the KR 87 back in ANT mode, parking the needle in 90 degrees.

When the unit is then switched in ADF mode, the needle should slew to the

station in a positive manner, without excessive sluggishness, wavering or

    reversals.

    BFO BEAT FREQUENCY OSCILLATOR MODE

A Beat frequency oscillator is provided to allow the stations to be more easilyidentified.

Pushing the BFO switch will cause a 1000 Hz tone to be heard whenever there is

a radio carrier signal present at the selected frequency.

It will also illuminate the BFO message in the center of the display.

The active frequency is displayed on the left hand window.

The frequency may be changed with the concentric knobs in the right side, when

either timer mode(FLT or ET) is being displayed on right hand window.

To set the tents digit, push the small knob and rotate it. Clockwise rotation will

    increment the digit and opposite.

When the small knob is pulled out the first digit may be set.Turning the large knob changes the 100,s digit and 1000s digit.

The standby frequency is displayed on the right hand window when the FRQ message

    is illuminated.

When this is the case the frequency may be changed with the knobs in a manner

similar to the explained previously for the active frequency.

If the standby FRQ is not being displayed itmay be called to the window pressing the

FRQ button. Pressing this button the current and active frequency will changed the

    position.

    side.

The inner knob is an intercom VOLUME control.

The outer knob controls the VOX (Voice Operated Intercom)

    circuitry in the audio panel.

The unit has ten pairs of on/off push-button switches.

Thepush-buttons permit audio reception from five transceivers

and five receivers. The control panel has provisions in addition to emergency (EMG)

and PA positions. In the same rotary switch a push/pull (SPKR

AUTO) switch is incorporated to control the audio from the

receiver selected by the MIC selector switch.

There are some differences between helicopters in communications

    system.

Two kind of audio control boxes exist on helicopters.

Once mentioned KMA 24H and GMA 340.

The differences between is MARKER BEACON section upgraded on

second audio control box GMA 340.

  • 8/12/2019 Nada Prezentacija (2)

    23/62

The GMA-340 is a very well-equipped Audio Panel. Not onlydoes it have the Marker Beacon section that you would expect,

but it also has a Stereo Voice-Activated Intercom system. The

GMA-340 was designed to make communicating easier and more

flexible. And if you add stereo music, it can make your flying

    more fun as well.

The Voice-Activated Intercom features six places, and allows

easy isolation between the pilot, crew, and passengers. There

are separate volume controls for the pilot, co-pilot, andpassengers, to tailor the system as needed for hearing or

    headset equipment differences.

The GMA-340 is loaded with features pilots love, including: Split

COMMs, so the pilot can work COMM1 and the co-pilot COMM2

Remote pushbutton microphone swap between COMM1 and

    COMM2

Intelligent signal processing, to reduce background noise

Two unswitched audio inputs for traffic, terrain, or altitude

    When a transmitter or receiver

operates on VHF (from 30 to

300 MHz) the range is limited

    by the earths curvature.

    On VHF frequency and higher

    the range of the transmitter

    and receiver is dependent

upon the line of sight. Which

    means :

If I see, I can reach.

    Natural obstructions like

    mountains, man-made

    structures, like buildings and

the shape of the earth, could

    be obstacles to VHF signals.

The COMM/NAV system consists of a

COMMtransceiver and navigationreceiver, a VHF COMM antenna, a

VOR/LOC antenna and a CDI (Course

    Deviation Indicator).

The Vhf COMM trans. Enables airborne

communication.Signals are received at the antenna and

    sent to the receiver. During

transmission, the RF energy is sent to

the air by means of the comm antenna.

The NAV receiver allows the pilot to fly

    using the existing VOR/LOC signals.

These signals are processed in the

    (Course Deviation Indicator).
