Speaking (15 marks)PROCEDURE: 1 Ask the pupil ‘What’s your name?’

Familiarise the pupil with the picture and then ask them to point out certain items, e.g. ‘Where’s the hospital?’ Ask the pupil to put object cards in various locations on the scene, e.g. ‘Put the bus behind the car.’

2 Ask questions about two of the things in the scene, e.g. ‘Is the hospital next to the café?’ (Answer: No) ‘Tell me about the toy shop.’

3 Ask questions about the object cards, e.g. ‘What’s this?’ (Answer: a pineapple) and ‘Do you like pineapples?’

4 Ask questions about the child, e.g. ‘How old are you?’
