In London Pip met Herbert Pocket who was the same pale, young man whom Pip met at Miss Havisham’s and they had a fight.

Herbert welcomed Pip, he told him that Estella was brought up by Miss Havisham since she was a child, she is trained to hate all men. He also told Pip that Miss Havisham was rich and a proud lady, she had a stepbrother, her father left a very big property for her. She fell in love with a man who deceived her right on the wedding day. Herbert’s father Mr Matthew Pocket was Miss Havisham’s cousin.

Joe called on to Pip in London and gave him Miss Havisham’s message that Estella was in town and would be glad to see Pip.
