DRAMATIC SONG READING

Annotated song lyrics are due when you present your song. This will be part of the speech rubric.

Choose a song to read. Dont settle on the first thing you look at.

Make necessary edits to the song if it contains explicit language or content. The words must be CLASSROOM appropriate!

Think about an approach. How will you give your own meaning to the song?

For example:

Make a serious song silly.

Make a silly song serious.

Sarcastic.

Ironic.

Will you add commentary to the song as you read?

You must do more than just recite the lyrics. Your reading must be engaging and provide your own interpretation of the song.

Annotated song lyrics are due when you present your song.

Print out the lyrics (copy and paste into WORD so you can edit the font size, spacing, etc.) to your song and have it approved by Mr. Pugliese before the end of class on Monday, 12/19.

Presentations will begin on Wednesday, 12/21.

Annotated lyrics:

Mark up the lyrics with suggestions on how to deliver lines, pacing, etc.

Include notes that will help you deliver your speech.

For example: when to pause, what words to emphasize, when to include personal commentary (what you will add), etc.

You will hand in your annotated text and after you deliver your speech.
