AIIMS Bhopal is an apex healthcare institute established by the Ministry of Health & Family
Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY), with
the aim of correcting regional imbalances in quality tertiary level healthcare in the country, and
attaining self-sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education and training. It has been
modelled on the lines of the original All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi which
imparts both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in all its branches and related
fields, along with nursing and paramedical training to bring together in one place educational
facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all branches of health care activity.
NATIONAL ACADEMY OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
National Academy of Medical Sciences (INDIA) is a unique institution which fosters and
utilizes academic excellence as its resource to meet medical and social goals. It was registered as the st
Indian academy of medical sciences on 21 April 1961 under society’s registration Act XXI of 1860. th
It was inaugurated at New Delhi on 19 December1961 by Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru, the first prime th
Minister of India. The first Convocation of the Academy was held on 8 December 1963 at Vigyan
Bhawan, New Delhi and the Convocation address was delivered by none other than Dr. S.
Radhakrishnan the then President of India. The Academy was re-named National Academy of thMedical Sciences (India) on 16 November 1976 on the recommendations of a Working Group
setup by the Govt. of India. The Official address of the Academy is NAMS House, Mahatma Gandhi

ABOUT BHOPAL: THE CITY OF LAKES
Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, and known as the City of Lakes for its various natural
and artificial lakes, is one of the greenest and recipient of award of the cleanest capital city of India.
Besides AIIMS it is home to several educational and research institutions and installations of
national importance, including ISRO's Master Control Facility, AMPRI, IISER, MANIT, IIIT, SPA,
